Ask Osama About Obama's Appeasement
"Ask Osama and others ...if I engage in appeasement" is the statement of the American President Obama which has covered media these days. It was an emotional reply from the President to justify his activities.
President Obama criticised
Almost all the American newspapers and news channels flashed with the emotional answer from the American President Obama, who is otherwise calm when criticised. “Ask Osama bin Laden and the 22 out of 30 top al-Qaeda leaders who’ve been taken off the field whether I engage in appeasement, or whoever is left out there,” was the answer from the president Obama. “Ask them about that.”
Criticism by the Republicans
The above statement of President Obama was an emotional reply from him to a question asked by Willard Mitt Romney, former Governor of Massachusetts and a leading Republican presidential candidate for 2012 election.
Bloomberg, the premier site for business news, reporting about this incident on December 8 said that at a forum held this week, the Republican presidential candidates for 2012 election charged President Obama for adopting “a course of appeasement” that has weakened the U.S. military and caused the U.S. to shirk commitments to allies.
Mitt Romney criticised the president saying, “Internationally, President Obama has adopted an appeasement strategy." He continued with an alleged statement, “Appeasement betrays a lack of faith in America, in American strength and in America's future.”
Newt Gingrich, another leading Republican candidate accused the President saying that America is the first business of the State Department, not appeasing our opponents. He also pointed out that he was very very worried about the State Department which has consistently engaged in appeasement.
The Republican candidates were attacking Obama’s foreign policy severely as being insufficiently vehement which would weaken the strength of America.
Firing response of President Obama
When this criticism was raised by the press reporters during a question-and-answer session in the White House briefing room, citing the killing incident of Osama bin Laden and others, the President responded with the firing words to ask Osama and others to know the truth about his engaging in appeasement. Fed up with the criticisms of the Republicans just to win votes in 2012 election, Obama fired back by pointing to the strong measures taken by him to check terrorism and safeguard the goals of America.
The American political arena is turning hotter.
