Every star wars fan will know all about the threatening helmet worn by evil enforcer Darth Vader, intimidating and awful, but how much fun could you have making your own version? These artists show us all how it might be done.
Darth Vader Art
Evil enforcer, Darth Vader, dark lord of the Sith, and father of Luke Skywalker, made many filmgoers shudder, that eerie appearance producing goose bumps, making hair stand on end for the more sensitive, and there is little doubt that, as screen villains go Darth Vader is the greatest ever created by scriptwriters..
Vader II
Dov Kelemer and Sarah Jo Marks, curators of DKE Toys, were inspired by this iconic movie villain, conceptualizing what was to become The Vader Project, asking of the hottest pop and underground surrealist artists, that they re-imagine Darth Vader helmets in personal styles, the more outrageous the better.
Vader III
Each was given a completely authentic prop replica, which they were asked to use as their blank canvas, expressing their own peculiar take on the dark lord as they saw fit. Originally conceived by Kelemer and Marks in 2005,
Vader IV
First exhibition of astonishing Vader helmets happened in 2007, 100 artists taking part, a further 100 participating each year thereafter,, resulting works featuring in annual art exhibitions, beginning in 2009.
The 2010, fourth and final Vader exhibition was in Los Angeles during June of that year, the 100 customized helmets later being auctioned in Philidelphia, on July 10th, prices exhibits fetched varying between $1,250 and

$17,500 a great deal of interest being shown. Every helmet was imbued with the artists own style, stamping their own individuality on the helmet in question, some of the resulting art being truly wonderful and sought after
Gifted people, who have the foresight and imagination to be capable of dreaming up crazy ideas like this one are among those we should treasure, having much to look forward to in future, where popular art is concerned
Vader VI
If there is a dark side to the art world, as Vader would tell you, the real beauty of these re-imagined creations is that they turn your thoughts from that dark side to something much lighter and definitely funnier. The idea, and the execution of it were beautifully worked, anf the future of. innovative art looks very bright indeed.
