CM Punk now a member of The Nexus

It was revealed the other week that CM Punk is a member of The Nexus. What does this mean and was CM Punk always the intended mastermind?

Introduction

Two weeks ago on WWE Raw, it was revealed in the soap opera world of World Wrestling Entertainment that CM Punk is a member of The Nexus. The real reason as to why CM Punk is now a member of The Nexus is still a bit unclear, but it's clear why he's been attacking John Cena or well, he's at least given reasons why (even if they are lies).

The reason

At TLC, the last WWE pay-per-view to close out the year, John Cena took out Wade Barrett who was the leader of The Nexus at that point in time. Meanwhile, CM Punk was a lowly commentator while recovering from an injury.

Following TLC, CM Punk attacked John Cena after his match with Dolph Ziggler and then again on Smackdown during a rematch. Then, the next Raw, he explained why he attacked John Cena, saying that he pretends to be someone he's not and that he (CM Punk) knows the real John Cena. He also says that Cena showed no mercy to Wade Barrett at TLC. On commentary, CM Punk had made it perfectly clear he didn't agree with what John Cena did to Wade Barrett as well.

After explaining himself, he later revealed that he was a member of The Nexus as Raw went off the air.

Was CM Punk the mastermind behind The Nexus?

It's unclear. CM Punk has been attacked by The Nexus previously, so that would be pretty odd unless the WWE are trying to forget that happened or it was a swerve by CM Punk's character. The most likely scenario is that CM Punk is using The Nexus for his own ends after Wade Barrett was taken out, rather than being the mastermind all along. It would at least make more sense than the other options, but then again, the WWE is not known for making sense. Anything can happen and it can be daft. So, anything's a possibility really.
