Crimes In Churches
Crime anywhere is a crime, but worst of all is when it takes place where we least expected and where we thought ourselves safest, in our churches.
Where We Thought Ourselves Safest
As Christians, when you wake up on Sunday morning or on Saturday for the seventh day Adventists, the first thing you think about is that today is your date with God almighty in his house. That is, the church. This is where we go to praise God and to pray to him for blessings and everything we desire for he is our father in heaven. We have no fear for he will protect us and take care of us and we thank him for his blessings and everything most of all for the fact that we lived to see today.
What we don't know is that there are those who wait anxiously for our sabbath day to reach but all for the wrong reasons. they are those who look to harvest where they did not sow. They are the lairs and cheats the thieves and and the rest. To give a clear incite, I will divide crime in churches into three that is, The lying and fooling, The outright robbery, The violence.
The lying and fooling
This is all about those who come to church under the pretext of church leaders such as pastors or ministers. They fool God's children and since we believe in God, we are tempted to believe in them. There are those who pretend to perform miracles using God's name and then demand payment which they claim to be the will of God. Recently in the media is the story of a pastor who hired a prostitute so that she could give a false testimony of healing to the congregation. Unfortunately for him and fortunately for us he was smoked out by the journalists who then broadcasted the story. You may find this hard to believe but it is the absolute truth.
The outright robbery
This is just as any robbery that may happen anywhere else. They come armed with weapons and demand from you everything you have got which includes the offering you brought to the church. Some do not spare anything that is valuable in the church which includes musical instruments and all. Whereas this is bad if it happens anywhere, it happening in church is even worse.
This is not even about the money or the valuables. This is about your life and it being taken from you for reasons you may not even know. maybe its about a certain grudge with a community or the government or it maybe a religious grudge. but why should we Christians in our churches or Muslims in their mosque or Indians in their temple or any other religious group in their places of worship suffer the consequences?
I think that it is about time all this stopped. About time we felt safe on our date with God. This lying and robbery and violence is doing nothing to enhance your relationship with God and let me not judge but I'll say that hell fire does exist and it will burn fiercely. Let ye not look for it, as soon as we can all see each other as brothers beyond the money or religious believes, maybe we shall be at least a little safe from evil.
