Come December 21, 2012 the Mayan calendar will roll over from 13 Baktuns to the beginning of the 14 th baktun, this is similar to the roll over of the Gregorian calendar from 1999 to 2000 only the Baktun is 400 years long, additionally on this date falls the winter solstice, which there will be an astronomical positioning of the Milky Way's dark area and the sun at sunrise. The Maya people regarded the dark area of the Milky Way as the beginning of creation, so when the sun emerged through this dark area, they believed the sun was being reborn.

There are various warnings and predictions concerning December 21, 2012 in which one theory is believed to be the end of the world. With all the terrifying gossip of doom spreading all over the world, individuals seem to be waiting for the impending disaster and how to cope. However it is not a smart idea to wait for the destruction that may come. Assuming December 21, 2012 is inevitable then everyone will be in the same predicament. It definitely will not do harm to prepare for this day even if nothing drastic occurs at least we will be prepared. I believe that the earth will not be destroyed, but will likely end as we know it. Here are some ideas to prepare, sadly if the world ends these tips will not matter.
1. Canned and dry goods will not spoil quickly, make a large stockpile, also have a whole lot of bottled water, and other necessities so that you can survive for a long period of time. Having a large supply of water and non perishable goods is always a good idea to have for any sort of natural disaster.
2. Have a way to protect you and your family there will be panic and pandemonium all around, and make sure you have plenty of medical supplies.
3. Money is a need during ordinary days and will become a required necessity at this time, in my point of view it will be law.
These tips can be helpful and should be used no matter what the outcome. I have no clue what will happen on December 21, 2012, but I believe something of serious importance will happen.
