The genie is now out of the bottle, and some of the magic that surrounded this truly beautiful and regal princess has been lost forever.

Disgraceful Privacy Invasion by French Magazine

I for one am glad that Prince William and wife Kate are suing publishers of French Closer magazine for breach of privacy for printing those awful topless pictures of her, ina moment described by William as reminiscent of the worst of the paparazzi and press when Diana, Princess of Wales was still alive.

The Duchess of Cambridge was depicted sunbathing - topless - on the terrace of a private French Chateau belonging to Lord Linley - obviously taken without permission and about as intrusive as it gets. No wonder the royal couple are mad as hell. Just how is it in the public interest anywhere on earth to have published such images?

That this as yet unnamed photographer invaded their privacy in such a grotesque and totally unjustifiable manner was bad enough, but for an editor to elect to print his work - in a country where privacy is jealously guarded- simply beggars belief, as the royal couple most definitely had every expectation of privacy in that remote house.

Magazine editor Laurence Pieau defended her decision to print, saying that hers was a magazine in the celebrity press business and that the images were full of joy, and not degrading, but what she saw as a disproportionate reaction was wholly justified, where no permission had been sought.

Apparently, Closer had even more intimate photos that it was decided should not be published, but all the same what was put on display was an affront to the royals, and they will no doubt want to make the publishers pay heavily for what surely was - they must realise - a dreadful editorial decision.

Parent publishing company Bauer have instructed the Closer France editorial staff to remove the pictures and refrain from publishing any more of the images, but the genie is now out of the bottle, and some of the magic that surrounded this truly beautiful and regal princess has been lost forever. What a terrible and destructive thing to do in the name of more sales. I hope they get nailed to the wall, and if they do - and it brings a smile to those royal faces - who could blame them?

I am with you 100% Tony, this is not news, it's greed and it should stop. I stopped buying and reading newspapers, years ago and in my mind that is the best way to stop this sort of thing.
