People donate blood for many reasons. The reasons ranges from saving a life to skipping class.
Excessive Bleeding by Jessica Ortiz
Students from many highs schools donate blood each year.
Leadership advisor Angelica Flores explains, “For about eight or nine years, Banning High has been the leading donator of blood, than any other high school around.”
This year was no exception, we didn’t disappoint with record breaking number of student donators in only the first day.
Why would anyone want to donate blood?
“There is one main reason to why people donate blood”, Sandra Reyes says, “to help those in need of a transfusion”.
Cristina Saldivar implies, “I want to do it to save lives, and obtain the great feeling of helping someone.”
Others who decided to donate didn’t have the same intentions.
“I wanted to skip class and get a free movie ticket,” says Jasmine Gonzales.
So why does banning have such high rates of student donators?
That’s an ongoing investigation, students are either way to generous or they do it out for the free period or stickers and cookies.
