In Paris also footsteps echoed in the Streets! The Footsteps of July 14, 1789.
Eco of Why! …and from the Slum of Saint Antoine came the roaring answer:
Down with the Bastille!
Down with the Bastille! Down with the Monument to centuries of Tyranny! Down with the Fortress Prison of His Majesty, the King!

It may be the best of times,
It may be the worst of times,
It may be the season of Light,
It may be the season of Darkness,
We had everything before us,
We had nothing before us…
In short, it was a period, may be like the present.
In Paris footsteps echoes can be heard in the streets still!
The Footsteps echoes of July 14, 1789.
Echoes of What? …
and Slum of Saint Antoine shouted a roaring answer:
Down with the Bastille!
Down with the Bastille!
Down with the Monument to centuries of Tyranny!
Down with the Fortress Prison of His Majesty, the King!
Unheralded, unexpected, Frenchmen in uniform joined Frenchmen in rags…and then people of Paris saw the rebellion turning to the revolution.
Revolution of Liberty! Equality! Fraternity!
But before the cries of triumph end, the meaning of the words was lost and down the lanes of France Swept only a message of hate:
Death to the Aristos! Death to all their friends! Death to their Servants!
Death to the innocent as well as the guilty!
So hatred and blood-lust were the inevitable echoes of the footsteps. The Nobles fled or died and the Mob Ruled in Paris.
