How Important Do you Think YOU Are?

There are some people who always want to have the pre-eminence or be the most important person in the building etc.. Somtimes many good things can be accomplished if they just move out of the way.
In almost every situation you find, even in the church settings, you will find people who think that their organization or church can not do without them. The truth is, many people who think that way become a hindrance to the very good they are there to do.
I am reminded of a situation that the Apostle John addressed in his Letter when he wrote to his friend Gaius. He said and I quote, 3 John 3:9, ” I wrote to the church, but Diotrephes, who loves to be first, will have nothing to do with us. So if I come, I will call attention to what he is doing, gossiping maliciously about us. Not satisfied with that, he refuses to welcome the brothers. He also stops those who want to do so and puts them out of the church.” We find many leaders like that today, especially in the political realm. Both the heart and mouth must be watched. The problem and the kind of spirit that Diotrephes had was simply one of pride and ambition. It is bad when we do wrong in an ignorant manner but it is worse to hinder others who are trying to do good.
Those cautions and counsels that John wrote about are most likely to be accepted, which are seasoned with love. Follow that which is good, for he that is doing good, as delighting therein, is born of God. Evil-workers vainly pretend or boast acquaintance with God. Let us not follow that which is proud, selfish, and of bad design, though the example may be given by persons of rank and power; but let us be followers of God, and walk in love, after the example of our Lord. Wow! Can you imagine? If that is how some leaders in the church, which is a community of love, have people like that, what about all of the other civic, political and charitable organizations in the world. No wonder places like Haiti, Somalia, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq, and Iran are in the condition they are in,not to mention our own political parties here in these United States.
Well I would like to ask all of our leaders here in the House of Representatives, the Senate, the Judicial System and even the White House “How important do you think you are?” Let us strive for unity and fairness. Let our government be Of the people, by the people and for the people. Then we shall do well!

Great article, now if we can just get those in power to comply with-the truth.
