Is Global Warming the Biggest Lie We Have Ever Been Told?

I’ve read some blogs on "facts" being considered concerning Global Warming. There are ardent and adamant people on both sides of the argument and neither side can be entirely correct. Are we just scaring ourselves needlessly?
Global Warming and Other Scare Tactics Revealed
I had thought from earlier ’scientific fact’ (late 1970s-90s-ish??) that “global warming” would cause cooler summers and warmer winters.
We have had a few ‘not too cold’ winters in recent years (although the winter 2008 as exceptionally colder than usual) and this summer, -apart from humid as hell, was by average ‘cooler’ overall.
I believe that ‘global warming’ is a fact but I don’t necessarily believe that humans are the MAIN cause (but certainly we need to back-up with the use of petrol-fuels, waste, and diversify our insatiable need for energy into solar/wind/electric, etc.)
Sun spot activity for instance, has been higher in the last 70 years than in the previous 8000 years, according to space experts using the best contemporary models of today’s understanding of the sun. While there is no linking this increase of sunspot activity to Global Warming, the lack of proof thereof is not dismissive of possibly being part of the cause either…
There has been a blunder in the reporting data for Global Warming, alarmists are creating unnecessary worry.
Scare Tactics and Global Warming
I recall a book “The Jupiter Effect” (by J. Gribbin and S. Plagemann) from 1974 that was convincing enough for the times about planetary alignments and the catastrophic events this would bring. The book was taken seriously (for awhile, anyway.)
Notably, predictions 'based on facts' that an earthquake along the San Andreas Fault in the Spring of 1984 due to a synergy of planetary alignment influences would occur. These events did not happen.
It was later revealed that a closer (presumably stronger) planetary alignment event had also taken place in yr. 1128 and again, without incident.
A follow-up book “The Jupiter Effect Revisited” (in 1984) tried to self-correct itself for the San Andreas Fault miscalculation and mentioned that the ‘effect’ had in fact, taken place in 1980 despite the lack of required and mandated ‘planetary alignment’ and that this was the cause of the volcano eruption of Mount. St. Helen. Few people took this seriously since again, the evidence was lacking.
I seem to recall the movie “The Jupiter Effect” that included something to the effect of Earth being in danger of ‘flip-flopping’ end over end due to the ice-caps being SO THICK and top-heavy it would mess-up the orbital rotation, and this flip-flop would cause a planet-wide “Great Flood” of biblical proportion. These events also failed to occur.
In Dr. Gribbin’s 1999 book “The Little Book of Science” he wrote of his ‘Jupiter Effect’ postulations and predictions saying something to the effect of “…I don’t like it and I’m sorry I ever had anything to do with it.”
In less than 30 years, the ‘current science’ is supposedly more correct and the Polar Caps are melting away and will be gone in another few decades? -Wait another 30 years and I’m pretty sure ‘correct science’ will diametrically contradict today’s contentions regarding the cause of global warming, Polar Ice Caps melting notwithstanding. A few good super-cold snowy winters can rebuild them very quickly, is my opinion.
Good News for the Planet
I saw a news brief on television this Spring about the extended cold winter we had (cited at the beginning of this article,) having ‘…rebuilt the Arctic ice shelf to levels it has not been in over 20 years…’ so, -what happened to THAT? Was this report erroneous (possibly??) Or, are ‘other interests’ at work here, overshadowing and down shouting this good news proclaiming doom-&-gloom apocalyptic warnings?
In a culture that allows bullcrap like the “Creation Museum” to exist and proliferate their specious and nonfactual views, we need to not take the wailing of pulpit criers too seriously.
Those Creation Museum people are a laugh; you know. They teach about a merely 6000 year old Earth where dinosaurs and mankind existed at the same time and that the dinosaurs presumably ate only grass and coconuts. -These big razor-sharp teeth are meant for ...cracking-open coconuts!? I knew it!!
I think I read online somewhere that The Creation Museum teaches that this is why T-Rex had such strong jaws and large teeth; to crush & break apart coconut shells, etc. -Isn’t that just about the dumbest thing you’ve ever heard?! A ‘Dinotopia’ only instead of being a fiction book, they preach as fact.
It’s just my opinion to not worry about the global warming alarmists. One can conserve gasoline and save money/reduce pollution even without their pressure. Take fewer unnecessary trips, carpool if possible. Install alternative power source (wind/solar, etc.), recycle and of course, reuse. That is just ecological sense and it is valid. In that regard we can help the planet, and the planet will ‘heal itself’ rather quickly. And let’s all hope for our future in space. We as a specie have so polluted our Earthly nest it is time to start looking towards the sky for flight, for new places to build new nests.
“Global Warming” fear mongers are like predictions from George Orwell fiction book “1984″; a TERRIBLE future and you know what, -he was wrong too. By the mid-80s and into today, some things similar DID happen (like the ‘big brother’ cameras on the street corners, watching humanity) but really, -they weren’t necessarily so bad.
One volcano discharges more ‘pollution’ in one explosion than ALL of mankind does in a single year and then-some… and yet, the planet continues. So what, -are we going to try to make volcanoes ‘not explode’? or accuse sentient ‘Mother Earth’ of using volcanoes as human-bug spray in an attempt to exterminate the annoying parasitic pest, mankind? Creation Museum, -you reading this?
We’re still discovering plant & animal species right here on this planet so, how much does today’s science REALLY know?? IMHO, too damn little.
In Case You Missed It, Here It Is Again:
There has been a blunder in the reporting data for Global Warming, alarmists are creating unnecessary worry. Gee, kind of makes Al Gore look stupid, huh? Can’t blame this failure on ’swinging chads’ I bet…

All I know is that our weather has been upside down these past few years, cold, then warm, then cold then warm, then hot, then freezing. Its very hard on our animals.

For someone who writes about science, I thought you would have some science to back up your claims.
