An extraordinary thing happened at the state high school track meet in Ohio yesterday.

"We're all in it together"

Every once in a while we witness something remarkable on the athletic field or arena that inspires us and speaks to the very best we have in us. Yesterday, June 5, 2012, was such a day.

The state of Ohio held its annual state champion high school track meet, and in the morning Meghan Vogel won the 1600 meter race with ease. During the 3200 meter race held in the afternoon she was close to the leaders, not far from the finish line, when she came upon fellow competitor Arden McMath, who had collapsed on the track. Meghan quickly cast her competitive fire aside and picked Arden up and carried her across the finish line. "As long distance runners," she said, "we're all in this together."
