The representative of the Muslim Brotherhood Mohd Morsi has won the election. The future is however dark and uncertain
Expected a Clash between the army and the Muslim Brotherhood
Egypt is passing through a tough time. The economy is sliding down and unless the USA does not give its'gift' of a billion dollars periodically, the Egyotian economy can just flounder. No oil and no minerals, Egypt is one of the less blessed nations of the Middle East in this regard. The matter is compounded by the victory of the Muslim Brotherhood candidate as the President of Egypt. It is not an overwhelming victory as his opponent polled almost 49% of the popular vote compared to 51% for Morsi.
Morsi has alarmed the secularists and the christian minority. Many Christians are thinking of political asylum in the USA. This shows that the election of Morsi in the long run will divide Egypt society. Morsi has also announced that the Sharia will be implemented in Egypt. This was not allowed in the era of Mubarak and Sadat. This will be crucial as Sharia though welcomed by the Muslim majority is not liked by the secularists and the minorities.
Mohd Morsi has again vented his disagreement of the peace pact with Israel. This pact is the corner stone of Egyptian policy. The USA after the pact with Isael bankrolled the economy of Egypt. In case Morsi tampers with this peace pact, the results for Egypt will be ominous and a war like situation can again be created with Israel. With US dollars drying up, the future of Egypt can only be bleak.
Thus the election of a Muslim brotherhood candidate is frought with risk. There is however a way out as the Army has retained the reins of power. Parliament is dissolved and Morsi has not been made head of the armed forces. These are significant aspects and perhaps the army will try and reign in Morsi. The question is as to how long will Morsi survive in the hot seat.
The situation in Egypt is thus tailor made for a clash. The Muslim extremists are calling this win an act of God, but people must understand that marching to Tahir square with flags is not the way forward. I have no doubt that the west is alarmed with the rise of the Muslim brotherhood and there is every chance that some thing will happen with the army breathing down the neck of Morsi and the Brotherhood. The Muslim extremists are also getting ready for a clash and the future as unleased by the Arab Spring cannot be rosy.

Dear Madan,
This is the saddest piece I've read written by you to date. You're talking about the army reigning in the president, is that democracy? Can you talk the same about American army reigning in an American president. Is Egyptian Democracy futile because The Western puppets are no longer in office oppressing their own people? You talk of US billions of aid, what has military aid done to the ordinary Egyptian?
You're talking of the West being alarmed, if the West stood for peace and justice they wouldn't be but because they're so biased and got no idea of who God really is, they only care about their interests that's why they are coz no one will bow down to them anymore. If the West are serious about democracy, let them prove that by giving Palestinians a state in which they can practice they democracy. You talk of Israel; oh, my God, is that the best example you can give? Tell us something we don't know!
If the majority of Egyptians are Muslims and the Shariah is the Islamic law; democratically, that's the law to use unless majority rule only makes sense when it's a Christian majority and Western approved. I hope that's not you're implying.
Time has come, let others do as they please and rule themselves they way they want. The West must be ashamed with the mess they've created on earth. This isn't the love that the Lord Jesus Christ preached which the so called Christians ought to share with the world.
