Kim tells that after personality switches, she finds herself blinking and looking around to work out who I am, and what I’m doing, recalling that she has disappeared from her couch, only to come round in a pub, or even driving a car.

Multi Personality Painter

Kim Noble, 51 with 14 year-old daughter Aimee has a problem few of us can begin to understand, yet alone cope with, but somehow she manages, despite suffering from the rare condition Dissociative Identity Disorder -DID - which most people know as split personality disorder.

How bad this can be first manifested itself in her childhood, since when, throughout her life, her mind has regularly switched from being one character to a completely different one without warning, and there are as many as twenty alternate personalities involved.

You might say that this is surely a sign of madness, but Kim sees it differently, and the most most consistently dominant persona in her repertoire, whom she names Patricia, is apparently the narrator of intriguing new book All Of Me, a brave attempt at piecing together the extraordinary and chaotic life led by Kim.

Kim Noble, according to this incredible woman, no longer really exists, because as a child her mind fragmented even before she learned to talk, numerous alter egos appearing instead, numbering the aforementioned 20 nowadays.

As Kim tells it, other than sensible Patricia, she can be single, desperately looking for love Abi, mother of young daughter Bonny or , devout Roman Catholic Salome, though she can also be the little boy Diabalus, writing in Latin only, or manic-depressive Ken.

Whether this seems far-fetched or not, her case has been rigorously studied, all who do so utterly convinced she genuinely has issues that cannot lightly be resolved. Dominant personality Patricia seems to take primary care of Aimee, helping the pair live a normal family life.

Other personas do, however, often take control, and when such
persona switches happen, someone else seems to be inhabiting Kim's skin, and she can end up wearing many different outfits in a day,
going shopping and returning groceries she had no need for.

Kim tells that after personality switches, she finds herself blinking and looking around to work out who I am, and what I’m doing, recalling that she has disappeared from her couch, only to come round in a pub, or even driving a car.

DID sufferers often find that dominant personas are aware of the others, the condition itself usually triggered by severe trauma, of which Kim has seen plenty. Aimee was taken from her at birth because of her history of mental health problems, and it seems certain that Kim suffered great early childhood trauma.

She now has regular, intense therapy sessions to reintegrate the personalities enabling her finally to live as one person, though in the meantime it is her rational self, Patricia, who rules the roost, though Kim does leaves notes for other personas, or contacts them via e-mail accounts set up for that reason.

Kim is today a successful artist, exhibiting very diverse works created by various alter egos to the delight of daughter Aimee, who has grown regarding mother’s multiple selves so normal that she even has favourites amongst them .

Kim discovered painting through Aimee, relaxation becoming a powerful means of expression for many of her personas, 13 of whom now contribute, Kim often waking up to discover new works shecannot remember doing.

Things are going so well that Aimee was recently voted Head Girl at her school, while her mother is getting lots of attention and praise for her remarkable art works, Kim saying that the first exhibition held at a Hampstead gallery was so emotional for all of her painting personas that their collective breath was taken away. Is life not truly incredible at times?
