The recent victory of Filipino-American boxer Nonito "The Filipino Flash" Donaire over Wilfredo Vasquez Jr. marked his debut in the junior featherweight division. The fight scored 117-110 as he won by split decision.
Junior Featherweight Champion
Donaire, being the more active fighter dominated the earlier rounds. Vasquez was able to show his might in the latter rounds. During the ninth round, he was put down by Donaire with a combination of right and left uppercut and left hook. Vasquez made it to the last round. Donaire was criticized for doing head shots most of the time rather than body shots and was labeled a one-trick pony for having not much to offer but his left hook.
Donaire now has a boxing record of 28 wins, 18 KOs, 1 Loss and Draw.
The match which was dubbed "Welcome to the Future" was held in the Alamodome, San Antonio Texas on February 4, 2012, back to back with the World Middle Weight Championship, a fight between Chavez Jr. and Rubio.

You love boxing as a sport cowboy! Now I did watch Cassius Clay but he was a showman as well.
