Some believe that the texts were composed by so-called priestly authors, purportedly connected to Jerusalem temple priests, while others see the writers involved non-priestly.

It has always been much speculated, and little doubt exists that the bible was not the work of any single author, but a collection of anecdotes by many. The latest computer software to be developed, by an Israeli team, analyzes style and word choices to distinguish different authors, and using it proving to be an interesting experience for researchers.

Some believe that the texts were composed by so-called priestly authors, purportedly connected to Jerusalem temple priests, while others see the writers involved non-priestly. Though separating the writings of these two groups is no easy task. The new software did, however, simplify the process, achieving a 90% match with the accepted
academic division.

The program was, effectively recreating multiple scholars work, of many years, in mere moments, and in those areas where the program disagreed with accepted dogma, scholars found interesting information, such as the fact of Genesis, chapter one, NOT having been created by a priestly author, as had always been supposed.

The program found that two principal creators had composed the book of Isaiah, the second writing from Chapter 39. This is just the latest tool in the armoury of the biblical translation fraternity, software increasingly assisting Bible scholars with searching and comparing texts, over the past ten years. What distinguishes the latest productis the ability within it to apply its logic more powerfully, in some ways, than human minds are capable of.

This innovative software recognizes repeated words, such as Hebrew equivalents of but, and, if, as well as noting synonyms, separating the text into definite strands it recognizes as different people’s work. Not that this is the only way in which mystery writers have been uncovered. Notably Donald Foster,Vassar English professor identified journalist Joe Klein as having written the book Primary Colors, simply through minor things like punctuation.

Software was developed, in 2003, that had an 80% success rate in determining unknown author gender, because female writers tend to use personal pronouns far more than do men, innovation that has law enforcement potential applications, like matching anonymous texts with authors by linguistic tic identification, and taken a step further, identifying age and gender might let advertisers better target likely customer profiles

The possibilities are mind-blowing, and running the works of famous men like Shakespeare through the software may well prove very illuminating, and there are some who are keen to try. While the new program is powerful and pretty versatile, it is hardly infallible, and some biblical fanatics will claim that, even if it is proven that many hands put the finished bible together, that is obviously the way god wanted it, sending his message via many different hands, to show how all-powerful he truly is.
