Rio+20 "The Future We Want- The Future of sustainable development"

Rio+20 “The Future We Want”

Twenty years after the Earth Summit 1992 in Rio de Janeiro, The UN organized United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development commonly known as Rio+20 in June 13-22, 2012. Previously the earth Summit 1992 implemented 27 principles of Rio Declaration and Agenda 21.It consisted of an action plan for sustainable development & environmental Safety. Agenda 21 referred to 21st Century and it is a comprehensive blueprint of action items that needed to be undertaken by various environmental organizations and the governments both globally and nationally.
Rio+20 is a follow-up after 20 years on the Earth Summit. More than 190 countries gathered to attend the conference. The main focus was on how to move the ever growing world towards sustainable development. Thousands of participants gathered to discuss on the topic. As the world population of 7 billion at present is increasing at a high rate of knots, the resources are being scarce. If not acted now our future generations might not even be able to get what we used to.
The official discussions focused on two main themes
• How to build a greener economy to achieve sustainable development.
• And how to improve international coordination for sustainable development.
The sustainable development may seem crucial for the reason that it involves both social and economical expansion along with the environmental improvement.Rio+20 engross an evaluation of the development in the past two decades and help in initiating measures towards a better and sustainable future- the future we want.
