Shutting Down Coal Mines

Coal mines are being shut down with no alternative available for fuel except to import. This is a detriment to society.

The EPA will be shutting down over 200 coal mines in the next few months.

In a few months the Environmental Protection Agency will have shut down more than 200 coal mines over this country. It is the regime’s concerted effort to do away with fossil fuels. It seems a noble action in the explanations given for enhanced health by not using fossil fuels that pollute our air, but what is taking the place of energy sources that are shut down or not allowed to expand here in this country? Wind energy isn’t enough to supply our cities, nor is is solar energy. We do not have a practical alternative. What is the answer? So far it is to import oil from Arab countries. The question then arises: Why import fuel for energy when we can mine our own resources?

Since this administration took over, our imports from Saudi Arabia have increased heavily. This is most ironic as the Saudis are Al Qaeda’s number one protectors. With the heavy debts we have, there seems to be no good reason to import expensive oil from those who hate us, thereby increasing their wealth.

In those states like Montana that have allowed fuel exploration and drilling and whatever else they do, the rate of unemployment has gone way down. People who work buy. If people have money to spend, stores, restaurants, other businesses open up. The economy expands. Relying on our own energy resources will help bring this about. Yes, we definitely need to work on alternative energy sources, we need to clean up our air, but in the meantime, why should we be in economic pain as result of our current energy policies?

We need to break out of the vicious cycle of vast majority of countries depending on few for their energy needs. America can be energy independent through gas reserves. Poorer countries have to tap solar energy as most are blessed in this respect. But technology is the bottleneck - siva
