The present mood in the USA gives a clear picture of Obama coming back to power
Obama and his Second term
It may interest my readers that I was in Chicago to meet my cousin who is settled there and runs a radiology center. I was in a position to gauge the mood of a crossection of Americans there. One thing that emerged is that Obama is likely to get a second term in office. With the Republican nomination almost decided in favor of Mitz Romney, the chances of Obama sitting in the white house again are brighter.
A few weeks back from Singapore and India, it appeared that the going for Obama would be tough. Since then nothing much has happened, the economy is where it was and news of US troop casaulaties are coming in as usual from Afghanistan. But despite this the public support for Obama has grown.
Many Americans I met appeared a resigned lot. People are still losing jobs and among some an undercurrent of despair rules. People are hoping for the best. It is in this background that many feel it would not be good idea to rock the boat put a new man in the white house. The mood thus is distinctly tilting towards Obama. Even some of the news programs I watched on TV confirmed this.
This US election is important as it is at a critical juncture in US history when the US economy is on downslide and the challanges to America in the form of militant Islam and resurgent China are all too real. Will Obama arrest the decline of the USA ? I am afraid that is another question.
