The Drums Beat Ever Louder

Here we go again. The call to make war on Iran is going out loud and clear.

Here we go again

Now that we have left Iraq, after ruining that country and thus leaving it ripe for civil war, the drums in America are beating ever more loudly to make war on Iran. Leon Panetta, America's Secretary of Defense, has been all over the Sunday (December 11 and December 18, 2011) morning news shows during the past couple of weeks, telling us that, regarding Iran, "all options are on the table." The powers that be see war as good for business. It fills the coffers of the military-industrial complex. It is the engine that runs our economy. The argument is that Iran is moving to create a nuclear weapon, despite all evidence to the contrary. This is, of course, eeerily remimniscent of the Bush administration telling us that Saddam had 'weapons of mass destruction' even though weapons inspectors had found no evidence of their existence. Stay tuned....

They haven't learnt from the Vietnamese war and they don't study history either. They should chech the history of the ancient Roman Empire and learn that all big empires blow into small pieces after a time like the little haggis in the old folk tale. Thanks for sharing the news. I will watch if it is on Hungarian radio or tv channels.

By the way, have a Merry Christmas and a peaceful Happy New Year.
Best Winter Wishes,
Ibolya

Thank you Ibolya. You are so right - we never seem to learn. But war is good for business, nevber mind all the death and destruction it causes.

I also agree with Ibolya. History keeps repeating itself.

Merry Christmas, Steve.

indeed history repeats itself unless we learn it... or they learn it...in the past the need for war they say is essential ... but now it is indeed insane... ...

If Women Ruled the World (with one or two exceptions)
(Modified by Ivyevelyn)

If women ruled the world,
Every day would be the first day of spring,
Every heart would have a new song to sing,
And we'd sing of the joy every morning would bring.
If women ruled the world,
Every man would be as free as a bird,
Every voice would be a voice to be heard,
Take my word we would treasure each day that occurred.
Our world would be a beautiful place,
Where we would weave such wonderful dreams.
Our world would wear a smile on its face,
Like the man in the moon has when the moon beams.
If women ruled the world,
Every man would say the world was his friend,
There'd be happiness that no man coud end,
No my friend, not if women ruled the world.
Every head would be held up high,
There'd be sunshine in everyone's sky,
If the day ever dawned when women ruled the world.

Half of America's budget goes to defense, in any administration.

The US knows exactly what it is doing and in all fairness it is an extremely clever psychological game.

The sanctions placed on Iran are not to stop the Iranian state machine doing certain things (which is enthusiastically provocative), but to ensure that Iran can only go in certain directions, making it look like the provocative actor, whilst the US plays it's dwindling card of "defence" rather than attack. We all know an attack is coming. The battlelines are drawn.

They also know that Israel will no longer be the only country in the Middle Eat with nuclear technology, thus creating tensions over the flow of oil into America's pocket and destabilising the position of Israel, another aggressive state. It's no coincidence.

The sad thing about Iran is the regime is not helping itself at all. America will be able to run it's propaganda machine because Iran will be viewed as the aggressor.

That's my input, anyway! Good article, Steve!

Madmen run Iran, but now that the war in Irag has wound down, we are eager to drum up another one - good for the economy , they say.
