Subsidy removal by government is national rebirth which the entire country will benefit from. Government with a good patriotic heart that is ready to render selfless service to its citizen must implement subsidy removal to courage fast economy growth. Countries currently depriving their citizen subsidy.
Subsidy Removal Brings Better Than Pain on the Citizen
Subsidy can be defined as an avenue use by the government of a country to subsidize the price of a product, for the citizen affordability.
Subsidy goes a long way in bringing down the price of a product, most especially where such product is an essential commodity. This particular will definitely and directly affect the price of all other product. E.g. Premium motor spirit or petrol.
The introduction of subsidy in a country is very good, and every citizen will benefit from it.
Both developed and developing countries are making use of this platform to render assistance and support for the masses.
At least 75% of policies put in place in developed countries are functioning perfectly, with good governance and service to humanity which stands as their watch word.
Despite the fact that developed countries allow their citizen to enjoy subsidy, there government make sure infrastructure facilities are in good condition, they reduce corruption to the minimum limit, good and stable power supply, employment opportunities are available for the people, good growth and development of their economy, health and transport policies to be enjoy by all the masses, general price control are effectively regulated.
In spite of all the benefit mention above, the introduction of subsidy removal by government of developed countries which the citizen of their country had been enjoying, yet their citizen criticize, fight and some even sue their government for their intending actions.
Now, developing countries are introducing subsidy removal toward the end of 2011, some very early of 2012, while some are contemplating to introduce it later in the year.
The introduction of subsidy removal is good, and is a welcome development. It has more advantages, than the disadvantages. But the question I asked myself and many other people I had met on this issue, will it work?
In a country of poor governance, lack of infrastructure facilities, high rate of corruption, inadequate and ineffective general price control, high rate of inflation, high rate of unemployment opportunities, companies closing down due to poor power supply and economy meltdown. Etc
Is this the best the government of developing countries can offer to the masses? Government of these developing countries is causing more pain than good to their citizens instead of rendering assistance and support to them. Does this government think positively?
Government of these developing countries are not performing their functions in line with governmental objectives, they are not controlling their economy in such a way as to ensure the welfare, freedom and happiness of every citizen on the basis of social justice, equality and opportunity.
Hardly will you see policies working in developing countries. Government makes policies; government official will be the first to break the made by them. They even encourage corruption, which corruption start from the top.
The fund to be generated from subsidy removal, if it can be utilized, properly managed and invested rightly, all these developing countries will be better for all. But, the citizen fear is corrupt leaders they have who can embezzle this fund.
Before the removal of subsidy, government needs to prepare for it. There is need for proper timing of it removal, citizen must understand the reasons of it removal and things must be in good shape which will make the citizen not to feel it, even though it is removed.
Developing countries government must put good structures in place, so that committees set up to manage and invest the fund generated form subsidy removal, must achieve their aims and objectives for which they are set up.
Committee to audit their achievement every two months, to serve as a means to check corrupt governmental officials. It has gotten to the point harsh policy must be made on the issue of corruption on government official who are embezzling public fund.
The future of any countries depend solely on everyone, we must fight to finish. How long will developing countries hang in a place? It is time to move on.
Developing countries government had fail us, we are clamoring for democracy, it seen it is not working here in Africa or maybe we are yet to understand the system.
