The NFL Wild Card Weekend 2011
Today is the start of the NFL Wild Card Weekend 2011, do any of these teams really stand a chance of going to the Super Bowl?
The NFL Wild Card Weekend 2011
This weekend is the Wild Card weekend for the NFL. We have eight teams playing four games with one goal in mind, the Super Bowl. The question we must ask ourselves is who will win this weekend and do any of these Wild Card teams really have the chance to make it to the Super Bowl.
The New Orleans Saints play the Seattle Seahawks at Seattle on Saturday January 8th at 4:30 PM Eastern-This should be a pretty easy game for New Orleans even though they have to travel to Seattle to play the hapless Seattle Seahawks. New Orleans lost their running back Pierre Thomas for the rest of the season, but Seattle is horrible against the pass. Two weeks ago, Josh Freeman threw five TD passes for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers against the Seattle Seahawks secondary. Expect Drew Brees to have a brilliant passing day against the Seahawks defense. The Seattle Seahawks play better at home, but they have nothing that can compare with Drew Brees and the New Orleans saints. If by chance Seattle wins, they will go on the road and get blasted by the Atlanta Falcons or Chicago Bears. If New Orleans wins, they will have the best chance to make it to the Super Bowl. Remember, Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints won the Super Bowl last year and they match up well against the other NFC teams. The Seattle Seahawks are the weakest team in the playoffs.
The Indianapolis Colts will play the New York Jets at Indianapolis on Saturday January 8th at 8:00 PM Eastern-This should be one of the best games of the weekend. The Indianapolis Colts and Peyton Manning have been here before, but their lack of talent won’t take them too far into the NFL playoffs this year. The Jets have the talent, but they know it. The Jets are the only one of these two teams that really stands a chance against New England. Look for Peyton Manning’s experience to shine and make this a very close game. Let’s hope New York Jets coach Rex Ryan’s foot fetish does not stand in the way. The New York Jets should win this game, however Peyton Manning will win if the Jets give him an opening. This game should be an exciting one, give the home team the slight edge. The Indianapolis Colts do not have the talent to win the Super Bowl in 2011. The New York Jets have the talent to win the Super Bowl, but Tom Brady and the New England Patriots stand in their way.
The Baltimore Ravens will play the Kansas City Chiefs at Kansas on Sunday January 9th at 1:00 PM Eastern-The Kansas City Chiefs got their behinds kicked last week by the Oakland Raiders. Will they bring this devastating loss into the playoffs? The Kansas City Chiefs have a good running and passing game, but they are playing the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday. The Baltimore Ravens should win this game against the Kansas City Chiefs. In the NFL, it’s two parts talent and three parts confidence. The Kansas City Chiefs confidence level is low after the devastating loss last week. The Baltimore Ravens have Ray Lewis and a great defense that should stop Kansas City. Expect the Baltimore Ravens to win this game. Their quarterback is still young, but he should shine on Sunday. The Kansas City Chiefs do not have a chance to make the Super Bowl if they win this game, they won’t beat Pittsburg or New England. The Baltimore Ravens have a chance against both teams. Pittsburg is a rival and the Ravens would be up to play against the Steelers. Does anybody really stand a chance against the talented New England Patriots this year? Maybe, it Tom Brady gets hurt in the playoffs.
The Green Bay Packers will play the Philadelphia Eagles at Philadelphia on Sunday January 9th at 4:30 PM Eastern. This should be one of the better games of the weekend. The Philadelphia Eagles will be led by Michael Vick and the Green Bay Packers will be led by Aaron Rodgers. These two quarterbacks may make this the best game of the weekend. The game is in Philly, so give the Eagles the slight edge. This game will depend on the Quarterbacks and the defenses. Michael Vick was thought to be the Most Valuable Player in the NFL this year until he laid a couple of eggs and Tom Brady played lights out at the end of the season. The Philadelphia Eagles should win this game, but the Green Bay Packers have proven to be tough at the end of the season. The win against Chicago last week should give the Packers plenty of confidence against a suspect Philadelphia Eagles team. This is one of those games the gambler should not gamble on. Some fans will be rooting for Michael Vick because of his comeback after getting out of prison. Other people will be rooting against Michael Vick because he fought and killed dogs. Michael Vick may be trying to prove to the world that he is a great NFL quarterback that can lead his team deep into the playoffs. One of these teams may have the chance to make it to the Super Bowl; both teams match up well against the Bears and the Falcons. New England should be able to smash either team if they happen to make it to Cowboy Stadium for the Super Bowl on February 6, 2011.
The NFL Wild Card games begin at 4:30 PM on Saturday January 8, 2011 in Seattle. Who would have really believed the NFL playoffs would begin at the home of a losing team? What an incredible year this has been for NFL football. Make sure you have your television tuned to NBC tomorrow if you want to watch the NFL Wild Card games, get your dip ready because the Super Bowl is just around the corner.
