Hope means an emotional state promoting a belief in a positive outcome related to the events and circumstances in one's life. Generally perfection means as completeness. Research means a systematic investigation to search for knowledge to solve new or existing problems, prove new ideas, develop new theories and establish novel facts. Therefore, we agree with Griffiths (1998, p97) that there is no hope of doing a perfect research.

Abstract:

Hope means an emotional state promoting a belief in a positive outcome related to the events and circumstances in one's life. Generally perfection means as completeness. Research means a systematic investigation to search for knowledge to solve new or existing problems, prove new ideas, develop new theories and establish novel facts. Therefore, we agree with Griffiths (1998, p97) that there is no hope of doing a perfect research.

Text:

prior to being agree or disagree with the citation of Griffiths (1998, p97), it is a prime need to be explained with the words ‘hope’, ‘perfect ‘and ‘research’. The American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language has described the word “hope” as emotional state promoting the belief in a positive conclusion related to the events and circumstances in one's life. The word "perfection" has generally been interpreted as entirety and totality. Articles having this quality may be expressed as “perfect”. It denotes a state that is complete and without any fault, weaknesses or error. The Greek philosopher Anaximander illustrated the world as "endless" and "the greatest" but while attributing its great qualities to the world, he had never regarded it as perfect (1) that meant there was nothing to be absolute and perfect.

Sometimes research is said to be repeated search of a search (re+search) established before now, but is incorrect. Research is a systematic investigation and has been characterized as the search for knowledge to solve newer or existing problems, verify new ideas, to extend new theories and to establish narrative facts.

On the basis of explanations made above, it may be brought to a closed that research is a systematized search for knowledge. Knowledge is endless. Aim of research is to solve newer and existing problems, and establish new idea. Anaximander was obviously acceptable that the world of knowledge and research was not ever ending, absolute and perfect.

It has thus been concurred that there is no hope of doing perfect research on any aspect. There is a never-ending list of reasons of imperfection of a research. It is a quote that neither two gardens are same on a day, nor two days in a garden. Since, philosophy, ideology, environment, culture, religion, society, politics and economics etc. are always varying and affecting daily needs of a common person and hence, objectives of a researcher. These changes in needs of a common person and objectives of a researcher are because variations caused due to differed conditions. Thus previous knowledge is felt to be insufficient on today and today’s knowledge will be experienced insufficient on tomorrow.

Sometimes the person doing research overrides the true outcome of research. The researcher’s predetermined attitude also caused an error in search of knowledge to make it imperfect.

Few examples have been illustrated here to make clear the imperfection of research due to various reasons:

1. A research worker had got an idea from somewhere that if the buffers are included in the food of lactating ruminant, the content of fat in milk may be increased. A series of experiments was conducted to test the hypothesis and draw a valid conclusion. Although, idea has been recorded to be approved, but a research is now required to supplement existing knowledge regarding various other aspects of the outcome of the research before recommending it to the farmers. It can thus, be percept that the research conducted before this was neither perfect, nor this because the knowledge and the facts generated in the research were insufficient. The quote is correct that a person and his activities may have a limit but the knowledge may have not.

2. Another example needs to be illustrated here. At the time of green revolution in India chemical fertilizers and insecticides were encouraged among the farmers in various ways based on a continuous series of experiments on productivity of the cereal crops. Subsequent to some years, the properties of soil and the environment were influenced faultily due to application of such chemicals at farmers’ level on the field. currently, the community of researchers is advocating restricting application of such chemicals on the field and advising the farmers to return back to organic farming.

3. An example in India is well known today. Some biased persons in the Government were giving clean chit to Mr. Raja and 17 others in a renowned 2G spectrum scam on the basis of deep investigations. But, the Hon’ble Court of law, after trails, examination and investigation of those facts and records, framed the charges against all alleged. The reason of imperfection of the research was that the biased people were conducting the research and overriding the conclusion.

4. This is an interesting example. At its begining, Psychology was the study of soul but later on, it was turned to study of mind. Presently the matter of this subject is to study of behaviour (2) and mental processes. Thus, it can be said that research is a never-ending and continuous course. This characteristic of research enables the possibilities of further development or revision in the matter.
So many other reasons may be accountable for this occurrence but it was apparent that there is no research work which is perfect. Mostly, a newly conducted research on the same topic adds something new to the existing knowledge or sometimes even proves that the previous findings were wrong. In the same way, no claim can be made that the outcome searched in the present day is perfect. There is no any research that could be expressed as “perfect”, or else the people may not be innovated and rehabilitated themselves. Who knows in recent future, a simple pill will be able to treat today’s serious diseases like cancer, AIDS and leprosy etc.

Conclusion:

We have conducted a experiment do agree with Griffiths (1998, p97) that there is no hope of doing a perfect research.
