Tiger Woods seems to be on a long roll of bad luck since his wife divorced him.

Tiger Injured, Withdraws from Doral

Tiger Woods, perhaps the greatest golfer who ever lived (next to Jack Nicklaus), injured his left Achilles tendon seriously enough to force him to withdraw just eight holes from the finish of the World Golf Championship Tournament at Doral Country Club in Miami, Sunday, March 11th. The tendon began to bother him early in the round, when he couldn't seem to get anything going, unlike the tournament's first three days when he played fairly well. He was three strokes over par in the middle of the twelfth fairway when he withdrew. Later, he issued the following statement: "I felt tightness in my left Achilles warming up this morning and it continued to get progressively worse. After hitting my tee shotat Number 12, I decided it was necessary to withdraw. In the past, I may have tried to continue to play, but this time I decided to do what I thought was necessary." Woods said he would get the Achilles evaluated "sometime early next week."

This marked the third time in the past three years Tiger has withdrawn before completing play in a tournament. He lasted only nine holes last year at The Players Championship before quitting due to a sprained left knee and Achilles tendon. His latest injury has come just seven days after firing the second lowest round of his professional career, a 62, which earned him second place at the Honda Classic. When this happened many pundits and fans thought that Tiger was back and that he would contend for the Masters Tournament title next month. Now it is doubtful that he will see any action at Augusta's venerable old course, and fans, fellow pros and golf writers are all wondering if Tiger will ever return to the winning ways he's accustomed to. my golf buddy Joe B, whom I always suspected of harboring unresolved anger issues around women, says that Tiger's ex-wife Elin has placed a curse upon him.
