US prisons have a lot of explaining to do as to why aids and HIV is more than the national average.

The Flip side of US prisons

The USA has 2.3million Americans locked up. This is the largest prison population in the world and is growing by the year. Statistics show that the growth of the US prison population is much greater than the growth of the US population.
Prison administration in the USA perhaps leaves a lot to be desired. In the US there are 2 types of prisons namely the state and federal prisons. Federal prisons have 125,000 prisoners as on date and the rest are in state prisons. Administration of state prisons is in the hands of the local state government and its officials.
However some disturbing trends have emerged that point to sexual exploitation of the inmates of the prisons. In particular there is rampant exploitation of women prisoners for sex. This is the harsh truth.
The Bureau of Justice of the USA has come out with some startling figures. In a survey BJS found that 64,500 of the prisoners on the day of the survey confessed that they had been sexually abused. Women were more liable to be sexually abused. Even the Juvenile detention centers surveyed showed that 12.1% of the young boys and girls had been sexually abused during the preceding year.
Sexual exploitation is something that is difficult to explain. One black young woman was sexually abused at least once a day wither by the wardens or the jail officials during her entire term in the prison.
With rampant sexual exploitation another fact has emerged. This shows that the rate of HIV/Aids is much more than the national average. A US citizen is more likely to contract aids during time spent in a US prison. The administration of US prisons needs an overhaul, but with prisoners increasing by the day, this looks a herculean task.

Very tragic, but true. I saw a show on some of the problems with the US prison system, apparently it is considered one of the worst in the developed world.

Delivery of real justice looks beyond us when even developed countries fall short. Prevention is better than cure - looks a far distant reality - siva

You SAID IT ALL!Great observations!Currently in the United States, 1 in every 31 adult persons is either in jail or prison or on parole or probation.
Prayer for America!
I plead the Blood of Jesus on our President and our Government and Military leaders and for them to make wise and Godly decisions. I pray that our society may become one in goodness and truth and acknowledge you and walk in your ways. Lord, I cover myself and everyone in my country with the blood of Jesus Christ. I cover my country with the Blood of Jesus Christ and may the economy of our country be restored. Help us to repent for our sins with Godly sorrow and may all the people of this country turn back to our saviour Lord Jesus Christ so that our sins are forgiven. Comfort and Bless all the people who have no jobs and who are undergoing trials . I now Plead the Precious Blood of Jesus Christ as a Bloodline around my entire country and protect our people from all sickness, diseases, any natural accidents, disasters, calamities, terrors, wicked ways, every power of darkness, the spirits of rebellion, from all moral corruptions and from all unrighteousness, from all kind of evils and immorality. Lord Jesus please keep peace, Joy, harmony ,happiness and Godliness in my country and May the people who are dwelling in this land may be safe by following your commandments, by Seeking first the Kingdom of God & His righteousness.

I believe that the Lord will cover my country and its people with his feathers and that under his wings my country will find refuge in the name of Jesus and I believe that the Precious Blood of Jesus will always protect my country and all its people I believe Lord will do greater things in my country according to his will through his blessings.Amen

Healthcare in the penal system is an oxymoron in most countries... I doubt that the U.S. is unique in this way and is probably far from the worse. That neither defends or excuses it...

That's awful taking advantage of women in this way. The perpetrators should be castrated
without exception.I'm sure that would be the best way to stop this,A whole heap of male prison officers with no balls.hahaha

I think before they're done they'll have most of us locked up. With the privatizing of prisons, they need more and more cells filled in order to make big profits. Fine post Madan.
