Virtual Pet Worlds Can Make the Impossible Seem real
Virtual worlds are becoming one of the most popular sources on the internet for socializing, gaming, and living out fantasies. In these simulated environments it can be possible to see, do, or have anything you can dream of, even a pet for someone who has allergies. Virtual pet worlds are especially popular for animal lovers who cannot have a pet in reality or who would prefer a pet that does not exist.
Virtual pet worlds can solve a large part of the problem for people who live in a place or area where they can't have a pet. An apartment or dense urban neighborhood is not conducive to keeping pets, it may even be prohibited by a rental agreement or community ordinance. In cases like this, fish are about the only option available and only then, if one has the room for a fish tank and is willing to put a large amount of work and expense into caring for it.
Virtual pet worlds are an excellent way for a person to enjoy the company of a pet without most of the problems. Things like feeding, training, grooming, and other associated expenses become no more that a series of mouse-clicks. You'll never need to worry about a virtual pet making too much noise, disturbing the neighbors, or running away. To say nothing of potty training. Some simulations will even have voice interfaces so that you can train and interact with your pet in the same way that you would for a real one.
Perhaps your tastes are a little more exotic. Have you ever though about what it would be like to have a pet dragon, or a dolphin? In a virtual pet world this can be easily achieved. You could even have a one-eyed, one-horned, flying, purple people eater if you wish. You can create simulated facilities and food sources. You can train them to do any trick you can think of. In some worlds you could even take them with you on simulated quests and adventures, or into the real world via apps for your mobile devices. With the vast majority of virtual worlds utilizing multi-user interfaces you can arrange pet play dates with other users and their pets.
It is tough for a parent with pet allergies to explain to a child that they cannot have a pet because, it will make mommy or daddy ill. This is a crushing blow, both for the child and the parent. Introducing a child into a virtual pet world could prove to be just the compromise that will satisfy everyone concerned. Some psychologists have even studied the effects that computer generated pets can have on, at risk children. While the results are inconclusive, it certainly can't do any harm, but could potentially do a world of good.
The internet is becoming a way of life for our society. It is steadily working it's way into every area of our lives. It seems only logical that, among all of the other uses we have put it to, it would also allow people to keep simulated pets in a virtual pet world.
