Westlife is MTV's Best Boyband of All Time

The power of the Westlife fans all over the world cannot be underestimated. The Irish band was crowned MTV’s Best Boy Band of All Time after the two-week poll that counted 12 million votes.

Westlife defeated the Jonas Brothers!

Westlife thanked the fans through MTV News.

After overtaking the Backstreet Boys, O-Town, the Beatles and The Wanted, Westlife beat Disney's the Jonas Brothers in the final round by getting 70% of the votes.

The band sent a message to MTV News to thank the fans for their dedication. “Hi, MTV, we just found out that we've been voted the #1 ultimate boy band of all time. Thank you very much, guys! We are very, very honored." said Westlife's Shane Filan.Nicky Byrne added, "I just want to say: Thank you to all of our followers, on Weibo in China, on Twitter around the world, on Facebook and everybody. To all the bands we beat, well done. It's been an amazing 14 years for us, and to top it off, to win this is really, really incredible, so thank you to everybody who voted. See you on tour!"

Westlife is set for the farewell tour

This is just right in time as the band pursues the European leg of their Greatest Hits and farewell tour on May 10, 2012. The band already finished the Asian leg last February when they toured China and HongKong.

Westlife released their second greatest hits album on November 18, 2011. The album contained the single Lighthouse and 4 new tracks plus the singles that defined their 14 years of success in the music industry. Beautiful World was released as a promotional single and was serviced to radio stations.
