In a further blow, there were also questions about the accuracy of some of the crime figures shown
In a bizarre twist, two police call centres emerged as crime blackspots.
Bolnore Road in Haywards Heath, West Sussex and Church Lane, Lewes, East Sussex are shown to have exceptionally high levels of anti-social behaviour.
But Sussex Police said the figures were a glitch and merely recorded the high number of hoax calls made to the two centres.
Questions were also raised about Surrey Street in Portsmouth, Hampshire - a short road with one pub, a block of flats and a car-park.
But it is said to have suffered 136 crimes in December, including violent attacks, burglary and anti-social behaviour.
Local councillor Eleanor Scott fumed: "If Portsmouth is anything to go by, this website is a complete farce, it's identifying wrong crime epicentres and missing out crimes in other areas, so you can't rely on it."
Glovers Court in Preston was named as the highest crime street in the country, with 152 crimes in December alone.

The murders in UK over Xmas and New Year have been horrific this year. Oh dear. How sad that we're becoming such an aggressive nation of people. Nice to meet you, my friend. hope we'll become good Wikinut friends.

There seems to be so much anger out on the streets, and as Sheila said, the murders over the festive season have been horrific..

You know John I forget how safe we are here in Canada :-) I was born in Bolton and spend half the year in London and am always horrified. Thanks for sharing.
