A Killer at Large!

The hunter in his quaint, little hat, dressed just like a man
Struts from the Lodge, his face bloated, full of expectation.
He is out to kill an "enemy" unarmed, not even ready to run
The lowest of the human species, a hunter, is looking for fun.

We have a species of human, braver even yet,
He is the poacher who hunts off-season
A miserable apology for a human being
He skulks through the trees for a viscious reason.

The Site for a Killing!

Doe-like eyes in a gentle face,
She nuzzles her young and lifts her gaze
Then raises her head and stops, stock still,
She steps back, there is someone out to kill.

Lurking figures in the trees nearby
The smell of danger, mixed.with sweat and grime
Evil eyes, glinting and eager to find his game
A deer, a mother, a friend of all mankind.

The Time of the Killing.

Now startled, she stands erect and waits
Her babies as if in her embrace
Her heart beats in desperation to escape
The brutality of man, his gun, his hate.

Hopefully, he is not too filled up with beer
And that his shot is straight and will not maim
A mother with her babies is in his sights
A defective marksman will leave her in pain.

The Marksman Takes Aim.

My God, save this gentle creature
From the devil human, so very skilled
A marksman levels his gun and takes aim
To him, she is nothing, just fair game.

In heavy boots, he creeps forward
Now he is ready, prepared to kill
A gentle deer is protecting her young
She has no chance as he levels his gun.

A Killing!

He staggers and slips and drops his gun
He grabs at air to save himself from pain
The gun goes off, a bullet is fired
Mercifully she is saved, it enters his brain.

They carry him off, a missed celebration
Of a killing by a cruel and heartless man
Thank God she is safe and with her young
He will be grieved, hymns will be sung.

The Killing is Over!

Maybe there should be a special place
Where hunters may meet, then hunt each other
This should be an event 'til they all go down
And I will take aim and shoot the final one.

The mother grazes, and mothers her babies
Thank God she is safe and free to roam
The hunter is taken too from more destruction
He knows now he should have stayed at home.

An amazing article you've put together here my friend. I wonder why a star did fall on this one. Don't worry though; you're a star in your own right.

You have resonated my feelings, Ivy. What a piece, out of the world! We are one species that kill for pleasure; others do so for staying alive, quenching hunger - siva

I have no problem with 'responsible' hunters but, we do have rules and laws and they are put there for a reason. Thank you for sharing.:)

A hunter, Denise, is responsible for the death of another living creature.

I think these deer-hunters are actually pathetic for their life is too empty and their hearts are too narrow-minded that they can't give space to the beautiful living creatures like deer. This one really deserves a Star Page Ivyevelyn. thanks for sharing such a beautiful prose.

The death of animal due to hunting is estimated to be more than 500 million animals per year. In addition to this, animal hunting can cause a great fund loss to the government because government try the best to save the innocent animals by providing an animal centre, hospitals and zoo. Tax might also increase because of this and I’ am sure you wouldn’t want a tax increase. Deer hunting must also be taken under the same perspective!
thanks a lot Ivyevelyv for sharing such as beautiful post and I'm wondering why there's no star at the top?

Hello, Albela Rahi: I have only just read your comment. Thank you so much. There probably is no star at the top because the moderator is a hunter. Although looking again, I don't think Johnnydod would approve of hunting.
