A Selfless Act of Kindness that Deserves Wide Mention

Some acts of kindness are so extraordinary they need to be made known to many.

Meet Tony Tolbert

Fifty-one year old Tony Tolbert is a lawyer living in Los Angeles. When he was a child growing up his father would often lend out the family's spare bedroom to someone down on his or her luck, so it seemed to follow naturally that Tony would follow in his father's footsteps.

This week Tony is moving out of his home and back in with his mother for the next year so that a homeless family can move in while they try to get back on their feet. Interviewed by CBS News, Tony said "You don't have to be Bill Gates or Warren Buffet or Oprah. We can do it wherever we are, with whatever we have, and for me, I have a home that I can make available."

Tony's home is being provided to Felicia Dukes, who was living with three of her children in a homeless shelter. A fourth child was not allowed to stay in the shelter with her because he was too old. Dukes could not believe her good fortune when told what Tony was going to do for her and her children. "My heart just fills up," she said. "I'm really happy."

Tony is hoping his story will spur others to give. "Kindness creates kindness," he said. "Generosity creates generosity. Love creates love. And I think we can share some of that and have more stories about people doing nice things for other people, and fewer stories about people doing horrible things to other people. That's a better world."

Tony's mom, Marie Tolbert, says "He is so giving. He's always been that way."

Yes, but the actions of a few can multiply. As the man said, "Kindness creates kindness."

An uplifting way to begin my day... being reminded that, if we stop to notice it, there is real good in the world.
Our attention is too often drawn to the darkness.
Thank you, Steve.

May their tribe increase. The good always manage to rise above the doom and gloom. Thanks Steve for the highlight; news media tend to overlook these as run of the mill - siva
