Birds with the Longest Wings

1. Ptesaur

Ptesaur is bird reptile that lived 200 million years ago. This bird has the same length with jet fighter's wing that is 19.8 meters (65 feet).
This is a bird with the longest wing in the world that we know so far.

2. Argentavis Magnificens.
The fossil of this bird was found in Argentina. Compared with Pelagornis Chilensis, this bird appear larger with longer flight feathers. But Pelagornis Chilenis wing bones is longer. Argentavis magnificens wing bone length is 6 meters (19.7 feet)

3. Pelagornis Chilensis
Pelagornis chilensis is included as ancient birds. Recently the fossil was found in Chile. Chilensis pelagornis wing bones are 40% longer than Argentavis Magnificens (before, known as lagerst bird).The length of its wing is 5.2 metres (17 feet). Beside its wing, Pelagornis Chilensis also has a long beak. It's beak barbed, can be used for gripping fish of the sea surface. The researchers believe the giant birds can travel long distances to find food in a way along the surface of the waves with his beak. These birds roam the seas and mountains of South America about 5 to 10 million years ago.

4. Albatros
The albatros is the largest bird today. The length of its wing is 3.5 meters (11.5 feet). Albatros also known as Sea Eagle. It is also known as Flying Machine, the most impressive flying machines nowadays. Albatros is the largest sea bird that can fly, with the speed of 115 kilometers per hour.

Thank you Eunice, interesting read. I would imagine that the longest wingspan of a living bird, would be the South American Condor?
