Idle No More Movement youth from the Northern Quebec journey to Ottawa to voice their concerns.

The Walk

About 400 Cree youth from the James Bay community walked 1,600km to the parliament buildings in Ottawa arriving yesterday, March 25th,2013. They aquired members as they went along and thousands joined them as they reached their destination.

They call their trek the "Journey of the People ." Many youth reported though there were hardships along the way, they felt strong in a sense of belonging and repect for themselves and their companions.

Their expectations

They expected to meet with the Prime Minister to voice their concerns for their people and the environment, but he was inToronto welcoming China's gift to Canada,a pair of Panda bears. A small group did meet in private (no cameras or reporters allowed) with Aboriginal Affairs minister, Bernard Valcourt, who promised to continue talks and address their concerns for support for their communities with regard to health, housing, schools and the protection of the environment for all people.

The Welcome

The protesters were met by an enthusiastic crowd and they were given places to rest and recover, as well as medical attention, mostly for their feet. They had endured winter weather conditions often having to use snow shoes and sleep outside in the snow.
Their trek has inspired people of all races and nationalities to join them in their quest to heal themselves and the earth.

C.D. Moore, dear one. A brave people and so are all who joined with them.

As for the Prime Minister, are we surprised?

China cannot be snubbed not can they be kept waiting - only the Canadian people.

They do not matter nearly as much. Is that not the attitude of Parliament?

I never thought there would be a politician as bad as George W. Bush, but Stephen Harper may even be worse. Great article C.D.

Steven Harper is calculating which might be worse than just being ignorant.

Again the majority is left behind by the few out to enrich themselves at the cost of everything that is precious for a fulfilling life - most importantly basic humanity and love for each other. Thankfully, everything will be left behind but mother earth suffers; yet she tries to reinvent herself despite our excesses. Time the government did right by the people. A touching share, C D Moore - siva

This is not a surprise to me at all. This Prime Minister ignores the wishes of the people. As for meeting with others in the government, it is pointless, they are all yes men/women. I understand the official opposition met with them and Harper has just over two years left before he has to face the people and I don't think they will be fooled again.
