How often are you asked to contribute to a new idea? I was when Rosemary Evangelista asked me for assistance in a business project she was working on, this is some of the highlights of this project I and others have been engaged on over the past year or so, yet this is only the beginning.

One Woman's Dream

There is an ancient Chinese proverb that states "if we don't change the direction we're going, we're likely to end up where we're headed" I have to say that I have been working with some wonderful people over the past year, or so, and all of whom have helped take the dream of one woman and make it come to fruition.

In 2007 Rosemary Evangelista she had an opportunity to join the publication staff of a small magazine called "What Women Want Today", sadly within a year the existing owners decided to discontinue the magazine, but something had ignited the flame of desire within Rosemary to continue to inspire others through the medium of the magazine, she took over the magazine and changed the title, continuing in print until 2011 with the small magazine "What Women Want Now", it was printed and distributed in a small area of Canada and had many readers and contributors.

This is when a change of thinking and direction was needed in order to face the future, indeed Rosemary was inspired by a thought by Oprah Winfrey - "Devote today to something daring" and hence the idea and dream of transforming the magazine were set to become a reality. Evangelista states in her editorial "An idea, as small as the caterpillar, began eating away the leaves surrounding it, taking in all the information, the hurts, the relationships, the pain, the challenges, all helped to develop this person in me, and the magazine. The chrysalis had formed in 2009 and here we are now 2013 and the transformation is complete. This 'W-E' butterfly has emerged", this theme is a powerful part of this magazine called Women Empowered Magazine emerged, with a fully digital edition that is available now.

Women Empowered

Right from the outset of working with Rosemary she told me of her vision to have her magazine transform from a small magazine read in a small part of Canada to a magazine having a more global impact and in order to make that happen it was always clear that she was developing an electronic magazine, which could reach out across the globe from the beginning.

The basis of the magazine was always about inspiring and empowering women and that concept certainly has a global feel, the cover feature about Sue London “You Have 30 Minutes to Live!" features an author, radio host, people and pet therapist, Reiki master and life coach who once faced the prospect of death within minutes to become an inspiration and roll model to women across the world. If you want to know more then you will need to subscribe, also included in the first edition are:

  • You are right where you should be
  • Fire-walking
  • Communicating with your guiding angels
  • Non-medicinal remedy for migraine headaches
  • Healing Honey & Curative Cinnamon
  • Solar lights save money & are great in an emergency
  • Lighten up! cleaning, clearing, HA! HA! HA!
  • New Orleans - music is everywhere! All the time

There are 60 pages that are full of inspiration and empowerment, I know because I have had the pleasure of editing and working with the creators of each and every page, this is a project that has been special to every person in the team and this story is about all the hard work that everyone has put together in order to make this project work - it all goes to prove that you can build something from nothing but time and effort.

The Future is Yours

This is the story of the efforts of a few willing people who focused on making an idea come to fruition and how those efforts are rewarded for the creation of the first edition of Women Empowered magazine, the future still holds many challenges and for this start-up magazine one of the largest is definitely about gaining subscribers, the hope is that by offering the first 10,000 subscribers a free copy the magazine will build the subscriber base it needs to survive and flourish, but putting a magazine together takes subscribers, advertisers, and a dedicated editorial staff.

This magazine is focused towards women and recognises the strengths that women bring to society and is looking to empower women across the globe.

I feel privileged to have been asked to become part of this great creation and am looking forward to its success, building on one issue at a time to a powerful new publication.

It is not possible to post the link to the subscription site due to Wikinut's terms and conditions, but if you are interested to know the details then please let me know and I will send the subscription link to you privately.

What is that they say, that every change starts with one step in the right direction. We can all make a difference, good for these women.
