In political philosophy, the thought of freedom often comes up. The majority of people say that they support most types of freedom. The word freedom, naturally has little meaning if we do not have a common definition.

Is This Equal Empowerment?

My definition of freedom in this article, is that it usually starts with an assumption of self-ownership, also known as self-control. In a free community, each and every person has ownership or (legal control) of their own mind and body.

The concept of freedom therefore refers to a certain form of political empowerment. Equal empowerment, is what is specifically implied. A free society, in other words, is one where there is an equal distribution of legal rights and where every person share identical rights and has as many legal rights as possible.

All People Must Have The Same Amount Of Legal Rights

Since freedom encompasses political equality, it can only logically also include as many legal rights as are compatible with the same legal rights in others. Therefore, In any free society, one person cannot have ex amount of legal rights while all other people could not logically have the same amount of legal rights.

For example, freedom does not include the right to enslave another human because freedom includes the legal right to not be enslaved. In another example, freedom does not include the right for someone to punch another person in the face, because freedom includes the legal right to not be offensively punched by anyone.

Can Freedom Include The Right To Limit Another Person's Freedom?

A free person basically has the legal permission to do whatever he or she deems necessary insofar as he or she does not harm or coerce another person against his or her legal will. Remember though, limitation is a logical requirement. Freedom obviously cannot include the legal right to limit other people's freedom because that would be illogical.

Freedom does include the legal right to defend oneself from others who attempt to harm or coerce them.

True freedom comes from abiding in God with Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior.

Oh absolutely, Jerry I concur, the power lies in the "abiding" part which means to "Copy" or "Emulate" many make the Christian noises but are a little slow on the doing-copying-emulating part. walking the talking. Thank you Jerry for reading, I will reciprocate, my friend. So good to see you around with your rapier sharp quill.

Vey thought provoking article. To me freedom means having the right to make up my own mind about what I want and can do and about where and when I can go so long as I don't harm anyone else on that journey. If I don't make the right choices about what I do then I suffer the consequences.

Hello Sherri, Freedom has many faces, Using the lilting prose of Doctor John F Demartini but slightly modified, "Every soul sings the song of freedom, You were created for this experience, which neither begins nor ends but simply is. Freedom shows no partiality and is its own reward. It can't be possessed, nor nor does it possess. It withholds nothing and with it, there is no limit. Any condition other than this is an illusion of life." I believe this to be the sacred core of our existence. Thank you Sherri for inspiring me in my eternal quest for righteousness

1st November 2016 (#) Hi , Thank you for being on my readers list. I have been searching for about 2 years for a write for cash site which works as easily as wikinut and pays like Bubblews did in their heyday! One of our wikinutters, passed this information on to me of a brand new cash writing site which is similar to Bubblews and it pays its writers for original work. I joined and find their pay system very rewarding.
If you could use a few extra dollars like I do, and would like more details please join here:

PS: Many wikinut and Bubblews writing community are already there!
