Floyd Mayweather Jr. is again in the news maybe to hype his upcoming fight, get noticed by NBA fans so they buy his next fight, or simply because he is racist. He just made another racist comment over his latest victim – the most talked about and newest NBA sensation Jeremy Lin of the New York Knicks. Floyd is becoming the most famous baddest tweeter ever.

Bad tweets

The issue is about his controversial tweet about new NBA sensation Jeremy Lin of the New York Knicks. “Jeremy Lin is a good player,” he tweeted Monday. ”But all the hype is because he’s Asian. Black players do what he does every night and don’t get the same praise.”

Everyone knows how basketball fans praised Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, Magic Johnson, and other Black American players. Floyd now questions why everyone is gaga over American-Asian player Jeremy Lin.

Floyd chooses, Jeremy faces what’s in front

I guess Floyd is just reflecting how he feels about the boxing world’s treatment of his undefeated slate in his boxing career. Jeremy Lin played the games of his life by facing opponents not of his choice while Mayweather chooses who to fight, where to fight and when to fight and changes the rules of the game to favor him – psychologically, physically or financially. And that is a big difference.

Mayweather has shown great dislike of Asian athletes through Manny Pacquiao and Jeremy Lin. He is comparing himself to the likes of the great NBA black players. NBA players and their respective teams do not choose their opponents. They play who is in front of them on their way to the top. Floyd does not fight opponents the boxing world thinks he must fight at the right place and time and that is not great.

How to be a great athlete?

What he did was uncalled for and a great disrespect to a fellow sportsman. Great athletes perform their best in their field of sport. And a great athlete is even greater if one lives an inspiring life outside the sport.

In boxing, being undefeated does not show one’s real superiority over the other because a boxer can always choose who to fight next. Top crowd-drawing boxers can also make any demands favorable to him so the prospective opponent can fight him. Real superiority can only be shown by fighting an opponent at the fairest terms at the most clamored time and situation by the boxing world. Other athletes can be undefeated too by cherry-picking opponents.

Disrespectful, defaming, unsportsmanlike

What Floyd did is irrational and a great disrespect to others. He is living in a world of his own.

Mayweather added another tweet, “I’m speaking my mind on behalf of other NBA players. They are programmed to be politically correct and will be penalized if they speak up.” Floyd thought they think like him.

It seems Floyd Mayweather Jr. is dictating what the sports fans, the media and the world of sports in general should think. He wants them to think like him.

His comment on Jeremy Lin is baseless, defaming, distracting and unfair just what he did to Manny Pacquiao.
