Terrorism has become the major issue in the foreign relations. After the incident of 9/11 it has become the agenda of all the parleys between the nations. Terrorism has changed the direction and style of the foreign policies. It is now the first and foremost thing to consider before entering into any pact of mutual benefits.

Impact of Terrorism on Foreign Relation

Terrorism is a mixed blessing in so far as the foreign policy is concerned. It unites the nations as well as separates them. They unite on the common agenda of tackling it and break with forever due to it. It works as an incentive to form a common platform. It provides a chance of joining hands to eradicate this heinous crime.
Relations of different states are based on mutual interest and cooperation. Terrorism is a phenomenon that becomes the root cause of misunderstanding and distrust between the states. It is an ethereal act that has always some mysterious reasons. The governments are not able to detect the terrorist organizations and the friendly states become suspicious of one another. The states that bear the saboteur acts of terrorism blame the other governments and here begins the distrust. Once the confidence between the two states is broken, it never revives. Now both the governments are right and at the same time wrong. The state that is accused of the terrorism is not in the position to control the overt and covert activities of the evil mongers. The target state cannot believe that the state is unable to overcome the terrorists. She always thinks that the other state is sponsoring the terrorism for its own interests.
Here we can quote the example of Pak- china relations. The Chinese authorities suppose that Pakistan is behind the radical Islamic movement in the province of sin kiang, while Pakistan always denies any involvement there. Both the parties are close allies but this movement is becoming the root cause of the tension between these two states.

Terrorism has absolutely diverted the attention of the major powers and institutions of the world from the basic developmental issues. Countering terrorism has become the top priority of the most powerful state of the world. Economic and social issues have been attached with the anti terrorist activities.
Pakistan was made to side with the United States in its war against terrorism and in return received huge military and economic support. The dollars were showered over the affiliating states along with the support in kind.
