The Oakland Raiders re-sign safety Charles Woodson to a one year contract

The Oakland Raiders management on Monday made the announcement they have re-signed to a one year, $1.8 million contract safety Charles Woodson.
Woodson's current contract expired at the end of the 2014 regular football season. Woodson who has played in the National Football League with the Oakland Raiders from 1999-2005, 2013-present and the Green Bay Packers from 2006-2012 was a free agent that could have decided to play for a Super Bowl contender in 2015.
Woodson decided to stay with the Raiders that ended the 2014 football season with a record of 3 wins and 13 losses for at least one more season.
Woodson has one Super Bowl championship ring as a member of the 2010 Green Bay Packers that won Super Bowl XLV.
One reason that Woodson decided to re-sign a one year contract with the Raiders despite the fact that they may not be playoff contenders in the 2015 football season is that his defensive backs coach Marcus Robertson will return to coach him.
Woodson may not be a household name in the National Football League since the Raiders have not had a winning season since 2002 when they lost to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Super Bowl XXXVII.
The Raiders have a reputation of keeping older players on their roster who are considered past their prime on their team until they retire.
