Give us Back our M1 Carbines, Obama

"The pen is mightier than the sword" was coined by the English author/playwright Edward Bulwer-Lytton in 1839. It first appeared in print in his play Richelieu. Could he have possibly been thinking of the Obama presidency when he coined that metonymic? When one considers that the name of his play, Richelieu is a French word meaning “or the conspiracy” it seem even more likely because with one scribbling of his mighty pen Obama outlawed the re-importation of 600.000 American made M1 Carbines.

Obama and his Secretary of State, Clinton formed a conspiracy.

They have conspired to rob us of a part of our military history by banning the re-importation of nearly 1 million antique weapons, roughly 600,000 M1 Carbines and another 300,000 1911Colt semi-automatic pistols. The M1 Carbine was developed in the late 1930s and saw action in every major battle during the Second World War and then later in the Korean War. As an aside, it was the first weapon that I had to qualify with when I enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1960, from the M1, I moved up to the the M16, Colt 1911 and the Beretta 9MM and other weapons. The M1 Carbine was loaned to the South Koreans during the Korean War and they now want to put those weapons into the hands of American collectors but the mighty Obama said NO! Why?

They might, possibly, one day “fall into the wrong hands.”

That was what the mighty Hillary Clinton told reporters when asked why she was supporting Obama's tyrannical legislation. Well permit me to make one thing crystal clear to you. There has never been a time in America history when it was illegal to own an M1 Carbine. We Americans have been collecting them for decades. I have three of them in my military gun collection.

They can accept high-capacity magazines.

"Guns that can take high-capacity magazines are a threat to public safety. Even though they are old, these guns could deliver a great amount of firepower. So I think the Obama administration's concerns are well-taken." So said Dennis Henigan of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence. But, golly-gee so can any weapon that takes an external box-clip magazine. “...these guns could deliver a great amount of firepower....” The M1 Carbine is a gas-operated semi-automatic weapon, not a fully-automatic machine gun. It cannot fire any faster than the shooter can pull the trigger and there are no conversion kits available to convert them to full automatic. Another fact that the Brady Bunch does not want to be known is that the average number of rounds fired in the commission of a crime is somewhere between 1 and 2. This fact also goes to show just shows how little the administration understands about guns.

What am I asking you to do?

If you are an American join me and United States Senator Rand Paul, the Republican from Kentucky, in fighting Obama and his conspirators, to preserve our right to bear arms and to own a piece of American History. Join me in signing the petition to stop the Obama/Clinton Conspiracy.

Just asking, with all due respect Jerry, how does the banning of a single firearm interfere with our right to bear arms? The second amendment, as you know, assures us that right, and it always will.

This is just one instance of legislation that is directly affecting our right to own and bear arms, Steve. There are a lot more of them. Another is his fight to over turn the "Stand your Ground Laws which are currently in effect in more than half of the states.. Today it's the M1 carbine and the Colt 1911, what will it be tomorrow? The danger to our Second Amendment right lay not in the gun but in the reasoning being used to justify his banning the guns. With all due respect Steve, it is obvious that you don't keep up with the gun control legislation currently in force and legislation trying to be passed. I do. I'm on dozen pro Second Amendment mailing lists as well as on the mailing lists of senators and congressmen who are pro Second Amendment rights.that if you were to read what I read everyday, you would see as I do that there is a very real threat of losing our Second Amendment rights even as we know them today which is a far cry from the way we knew them even twenty or thirty years ago.If we aren't careful and fight for our Second Amendment rights, there will come a day when the only ones legally allowed to own and bear arms will be the police, the active, on-duty military with the vast majority of the guns on the streets being illegal guns in the hands of criminals. Steve, with all due respect, on more than one occasion you have written articles on how we are losing our constitutional right, why do you think the Second Amendment is anymore sacred and safe than the ones you have written about?

Jerry, I can not state it any better than you have in your article and then in your response to Steve. I wish folks would realize, once they start tinkering with ones rights, sooner or later they will get to one you support. As you have stated about what Steve has published. Nice one and yes, I will sign the petition. A fight for ones rights, should mean something to all of us. As always, thank you for sharing.:)
