Global Financial Crisis And Government Welfare Reforms Force Women into Sex Work

As the world’s purse strings tighten mothers are seeking alternate means of supporting families and paying the mortgage.

Women, who previously would never have considered the sex industry as a viable occupation, are donning stockings and suspenders and trying their luck. With the opportunity to make over a thousand dollars a shift on a busy night in a brothel, many women are wondering why they hadn’t investigated this line of work previously.

Violet Ivy, author of a controversial and enlightening new book on prostitution says there are many areas of the adult industry for them to choose from that don’t necessarily mean they are walking the streets.

Pointing to not just credit crunching global times, she explains that devastating effect on the new reforms to single parent payments cutting off funds when their children turn eight are forcing many women to compromise their ethics.

“Whether they perform gravity defying maneuvers on a pole, serve beer topless to football crowds, reveal private parts in front of a web-cam or take the plunge and offer full sexual services it’s all part of the adult entertainment industry as such.”

Violet goes on to say that the lack of affordable childcare means mothers are working short, daytime shifts in brothels while their children attend school oblivious the double life of the parent.

“A ‘girls night out’ is a cover to work at a strip club. The traditional ladies’ pampering spa weekend is actually two days and nights pulling long shifts in a naughty massage parlour.”

She says that women are doing whatever it takes to make ends meet and that business owners are opening their doors to a new generation of working girls.

Andy, brothel manager, Club Temptation, North Sunshine, Victoria, says the trend has been great for business. “We’ve never had so many girls knocking on our door looking for work. Young ones, older ones, fat, skinny and every socioeconomic background you can imagine. The clients love the new faces. The girls are hungry for the money; they work long hours and do as many bookings in a day as they can. This whole global slump has been great for our establishment.”

Violet Ivy points out that the woman you’ve known for years, who lives on the corner and walks her children to school, could have an alter-ego as Sasha the ‘adult entertainer’. These women believe the end justifies the means and that they have no choice in this current anti-single parent climate.
