Grants (and scholarships) are freely awarded to eligible single mothers on the basis of financial hardship which unlike loans, do not require any repayment.

To help single moms cope with the challenge of single parenting, there are many sources to get financial help like Grants.gov

Grants.gov is a Web site managed in partnership with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. It is a go-to source for finding and applying for all types of federal grants for single mothers

Single mothers who need financial aid can find over 1,000 grants for various purposes, designed to make their lives more financially sound and expand their career possibilities.

When you visit this Grants.Gov, they should click on the option to search for grants. On the search page, “open opportunities” should be checked because this will pull grants that are accepting applications. Keywords can be entered or this field can be left blank to expand the results. You should select “individual” in the Search by Eligibility field. If you wish, you can search by category, dates, and agency.

In the 'Search by Funding Instrument Type' field, selection of “grants” is required. Once the search terms have been entered and submitted, a 'search result' page appears. This lists the current federal grant opportunities that match your search criteria. Some are state-specific so each title and description should be read carefully to determine if you're eligible for the grant.

One unique grant currently available is the NEA Literature Fellowship in Fiction and Creative Non-Fiction. This $25,000 grant has a March 3, 2012 closing date for applications. Published creative writers can apply for this grant designed to provide them with money needed for research, travel, writing, and career advancement. If you're a published writer, you should review this excellent opportunity.

At any point in time, Grants.gov will have multiple grants available for single mothers and other individuals. Therefore, it is in your best interest to do frequent searches on this site and choose what best suits your current financial situation.

Grants are freely awarded to eligible single mothers on the basis of financial hardship which unlike student loans, do not require any repayment. For this reason, you should apply for all the grants for which you are eligible and interested as this may hold the financial key to your educational and career goals.
