Safety LaRon Landry released by the Indianapolis Colts

The Indianapolis Colts have released their safety LaRon Landry, 30. Landry is now a free agent that is free to negotiate a contract with another team in the National Football League that needs a veteran defensive back before the start of the 2015 football season.
Landry was drafted in the first round of the 2007 National Football League Draft by the Washington Redskins.
Landry played safety for the Redskins from 2007-2011 before he signed a one year contract with the New York Jets prior to the start of the 2012 football season as a free agent since the Redskins decided not to offer Landry a new contract after his rookie contract expired at the end of the 2011 football season.
Landry played one season with the New York Jets before he signed a four year, $24 million contract with the Indianapolis Colts before the start of the 2013 football season.
During the 2014 football season, Landry was suspended for four games by the officials of the National Football League for his violation of the performance enhancing drugs. The Colts during the 2014 football season won the American Football Conference South Division title and advanced deep into the playoffs before losing to the eventual Super Bowl champions the New England Patriots in the American Football Conference Championship Game.
The reason that Landry was released with two years left in his current contract was because Landry lost his starting safety position to Mike Adams. The Colts management is not to pay a high salary to a player like Landry that does not fit into their future plans.
Landry will likely be able to find employment with another football team in the National Football League that will need his services before the start of the 2015 football season.
