School should not just focus on education but also on enhancing the thinking capability of the child. Kāsiga School in Dehradun works on a similar concept. At Kāsiga School, equal importance is given to the academics as well as the extracurricular activities.

Introduction

A wise man once said, “Education is not learning the facts, but the training of the minds to think.” Acting on a similar line of thought and aim, is Kāsiga School, Dehradun. To ensure that a child grows up to be an intellectual member of the society, parents should send their children to Kāsiga.

School life and Academic Schedule at Kāsiga

The school life at Kāsiga is not designed to just meet the academic goals of today. Instead, attention is paid to prepare the child for the competitive world outside. Both the primary and the secondary level of education provide a strong foundation for the students. These are based on the guidelines provided by the National Curriculum Framework. Such an approach to educating the children will help them prepare for the competitive exams like NTSE, NLSTSE, IIT-JEE, NEET at the later stages. The schooling begins from Class 3 and it is one of the reputed boarding schools for boys and girls in India.

Balanced Curriculum of Extra-curricular activities

At Kāsiga School, equal importance is given to the academic as well as the extracurricular activities. The focus of the management to co-curricular activities can be understood from the fact that reputed international colleges like Lasalle College Of Arts, Singapore had visited Kāsiga to intimate them about the career options in art and design. The well-structured curriculum of the school can be inferred from the numerous accolades the school as well the students have won.

Accolades won over all these years

Over all these years, Kāsiga has raised the bar for boarding schools in India. It has been awarded numerous accolades that bear testimony to the high quality of education imparted here. The talented students and the dedicated staff members have been the crowning jewel of this school. Just a few days back, the Head of school, Dr Neeta Bali was honored with ‘Uttarakhand Rattan Award’. From time to time, the students have outshone others in inter-school competitions and the national level tournaments. Few of the accounts of such accolades are as follows:

1. Recently in January 2017, Kāsiga School was ranked number 1 in the city in a survey conducted by 'Digital Learning', Asia’s premier magazine on education.

2. Winners of National Level Sudoku Quiz-2016: four students secured 10th, 22nd, 49th and 55th rank among the 500+ students who participated in this tournament.

3. Sharon Haokip of Grade VII B bagged the second place at the National Story Writing Competition, which was organized by the British Council.

School Excursions

At Kāsiga, it is believed, ‘All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy’. Understanding this, picnics and excursions are planned every academic year. Such excursions are arranged keeping in mind both the students and the teachers. Recently, the management of Kāsiga School took their staff on an excursion to Carbery Acres on 25th January. It was a part of the Professional Development Programme for the staff. The objective was to promote a sense of belongingness and imbibe team spirit in the minds and hearts of students. So, in more ways than one, Kāsiga School can be regarded as one of the best boarding schools in India.
