An examination of LeBron's skills and character. LeBron clearly has the skill to play for a championship team. Is his character getting in the way?

LeBron James has been (self) described as the greatest living basketball player. He has led numerous teams to the NBA Finals, only to fall short. His stats in this year's post-season were tremendous, nearly averaging a triple double (ten or more points, rebounds, and assists) throughout the Finals. On the other hand, this might have happened because of the kind of game his team played. No matter how good a player is, he can't win the game by himself. He scored lots of points, but also missed lots of shots.
I think there is a connection between his character and his team's ultimate defeat. Here, in Israel, the media were all about his team, the Cleveland Cavaliers, because of the coach, American- Israeli David Blatt. As a Warriors fan, I was very lonely. The Warriors played a historically good season and some say that Kerr outsmarted Blatt in the Finals.
Although Blatt comes from America, his career before this year was in Israel and Europe. In European basketball, the coach is the boss. If a player is good enough to question the coach, he can play in the NBA. Now we read that James shared the coaching duties with Blatt, questioning or rejecting proposed plays, calling timeouts, and possibly even deciding who would play at any given time. We saw the Cavs tire in the last minutes in many of the games, allowing a close game to become an easy victory for the Warriors. This must be examined by the pundits. Assuming that games were lost because of player fatigue, why were not more players used? Did those players on the court not want LeBron to win the trophy? We have heard that leading 2-1, they wanted to win less than their opponent. I'm beginning to think that LeBron James is a great player, but a poor teammate. Hardly the material of MVPs.
