Firefighters rushed to the rescue of Thorn the bearded dragon. Feared dead, they managed to revive him with oxygen from a cylinder, kiss of life not used.

A heating bulb had overheated and fallen onto Thorn's vivarium (home for a lizard), in a cellar at a property in Pedmore Road, Lye, reports stourbridgenews.co.uk.

This sparked a fire and soon the place was engulfed in smoke.

Having been called out, Brierley Hill firefighters Lucy Evans and Adrian Smith raced in to save two year old Thorn from its vivarium, and feared it dead, according to expressandstar.com.

After carrying the bearded dragon outside to safety, colleagues Roy Whitehead and Jamie Reason gave it oxygen from a cylinder.

“Thorn was desperate for air and at first we thought it was dead", says Lucy Evans, as reported by Mirror.co.uk .

But after a dose of oxygen, they amazingly managed to revive the lizard.
“It was a bit tricky but we are pleased we were able to rescue this beautiful animal", watch commander Andrew Papworth added.
