Sharia Law is not needed in America nor in any other free world.

Islamic Inroad into America

It's a slow inroad but it's a steady one. These are the creepy-crawlies that never give up especially if the environment looks shaky. Under Obama, America has taken a beating in every way: social, religious, economic, political and global. However, a resounding Mid-Term defeat for Obama will hopefully set a changed course for the country just as Forbes declares Russia's Putin to be the most powerful man in the world! No wonder, people were upset; America did not seem like America; everything had shifted, things became fluid, issues became havens of contention. Amongst all this, was the threat of Sharia Law, bearing its teeth to a population that did not want it, neither was familiar with it, nor should ever allow it. Sharia Law is an alien concept to non-Muslims. Just the fact of its presence and push for implementation in a non-Muslim land, is a ludicrous concept. Why should Sharia Law be entertained in America? It should absolutely not be entertained in this land or any other land.

Laws are Specific to Each Nation

Does Saudi Arabia allow females to drive a car? Do Palestinian territories allow women to get friendly to males in the open? Does Pakistan allow anyone to renounce Islam and live to tell it? There are blasphemy laws for this. Sharia proclaims death, stoning, hanging for anything females might do to upset the delicate brains of Muslim men! Mexico jailed Marine Tahmooressi for nearly 6 months for entering Mexico by mistake and having three guns on him. According to them, the Marine violated their laws! Did Mexico care whether it was a mistake? Their laws clearly stated massive jail time if guns were found on a person! This penchant for laws is from a country which sends and encourages millions of illegals to enter the US from its open borders! Bottom line: every nation has its laws and no other should be allowed to make its inroads on them. A nation's laws hold above any other regardless of religion, ethnicity, class, region or anything else under the Sun.

Sharia Law Does Not Belong in America

November 4th saw one of the biggest upheavals in American politics; it also saw Alabama voters pass a constitutional amendment to prohibit the use of foreign laws in state courts. Alabama put down its stamp of NO to Sharia Law or any other foreign law in American justice system! Sharia is free to shroud populations that want it in Islamic lands. Other lands that favor a humane existence of men and women, side by side, with equal rights and opportunities, well these lands should be left alone. In fact, non-Muslim nations must uphold and protect their laws very close to their heart. On the other hand, Sharia Law could clean up some dust from its 7th century books and figure a way of adapting its diktat to changing circumstances of modern societies. Perhaps, instead of taking Sharia to other parts of the world that have no need for it, its followers could revamp the Sharia issue for themselves first!

Does anyone seriously think there is any danger that Sharia law will come to America? Seems to me it's a non-issue.

"Under Obama, America has taken a beating in every way: social, religious, economic, political and global." So he's responsible for everything that's bad in the entire world? Wow! He's one powerful dude!

I read a Malaysian judge called Shariah degrading - recalling the phrase call a spade, a spade. Malaysia is a Muslim country. If the threat of Shariah and IS does not unite the majority, then nothing else can! It is surprising that those affected by such repulsive behavior choose to remain quiet. Einstein said - The world is a dangerous place to live; not because of the people who are evil, but because of the people who don't do anything about it. Thanks for this highlight, Joyce - siva

Muslim encroachment is insidious and steady with hardly a notice until complete change occurs in front of our eyes.

They put women to work increasing their population by making babies behind their closed doors. They insult and insist until Sharia makes inroads into law. Their encroachments must end before they begin.

Alabama has taken the threat seriously and legislated against Sharia law before it begins, unlike some of your commenters, Joyce, who wouldn't recognize the threat if it knocked on their door.

A very powerful article about the possibility of Sharia Law inroads into America.
You could have written this for France as some of its mixed population claim for laws adapted to their religion! Some are even campaigning for polygamy! Thanks for sharing

These are complex issues to which "soundbite" reactions are not appropriate.

Not every Muslim wants to be governed by Shariah law, and there are some aspects of Shariah law that are more acceptable than others.

Some aspects of Shariah law are allowed to operate in the UK, for example. These include elements of civil and marital law, but do not extend to the more extreme penalties that apply under a complete Shariah system of criminal law.

That said, I would not like to see one set of laws applying to the Muslim population and another set applying to everyone else. If you live in a country you abide by the laws of that country, surely?
