An unconfirmed source says that racecar driver Dan Wheldon and his wife had their initials tattooed on their wrist over the weekend. That is one tattoo that Susie Wheldon will never regret.

A Symbol of their Love, A Couples Tattoo

Sadly, 33-year-old Indy Car driver, Dan Wheldon died Sunday October 17, 2011 after a 15-car wreck sent his car into the air and then into a wall on Turn 2 at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Dan Wheldon was a professional race car driver who was in love with his family. Before meeting his wife Susie Behm, Dan used to boast that he was a bachelor and proud of it. However, that all changed when he fell for Susie. Those who knew Dan, say that one of the highlights in Dan’s life was his family. He and his wife Susie were married in March of 2008. The couple lived in St. Petersburg, FL with their two sons: Sebastian born February 1, 2009, and Oliver, born March 19, 2011.

Dan had once been regarded as the wild-and-crazy party guy of the paddock. Susie had been his assistant and close friend for a while prior to marriage and in an article written by Phillip B. Wilson back in 2008. Dan said, "Obviously I've known Susie for a while and we've been very close for a very long time," and he went on to say, "It reaches that point where you can either keep kidding yourself or do something about it.” So Dan took the leap and never looked back. He married the woman of his dreams, Susie Behm.

Dan described his feelings for Susie by saying, "Here's the thing when you know you're in love. With all due respect, you're so happy; you don't care what other people think." He said that, the only time he got nervous was the morning of (the wedding) and that was only because he didn’t want to mess things up because he wanted it to be her dream day.

Wheldon was the picture of contentment. Life was going good for this young man, he had 16 career wins, took home the 2005 IndyCar championship and won this year's Indy 500. But, best of all he was madly in love. Fans loved to see the couple together arm in arm.

The night before the race the couple was in Las Vegas for the race and a tipster told Vegas Confidential that Wheldon and his wife had their initials — D.W. and S.W. — tattooed on their wrists about 10 p.m. at Huntington Ink at the Palms.

This is one tattoo that Susie will forever have that will remind her of the love they shared. The world mourns the loss of a wonderful racecar driver.

From all reports Dan was a wonderful human being, loved by all who knew him. I guess there's some truth to the saying that the good die young.

How touching my friend. I hated to see this crash in the replay and know that for his family it must be very painful. Great write up and very emotional.
