Republicans Really Do Think Like This

Been out looking for work but can't find a job? Well, it's all because you're lazy. Just ask a Republican.

A nation of takers

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, that man with the orange tan, John Boehner, gave a speech to the American Enterprise Institute, a right-wing think tank, in Washington, D.C. yesterday, September 18, 2014, in which he doubled down on Mitt Romney's infamous statement that 47 percent of Americans are "takers" who vacuum up government funds in the form of entitlements and benefits.

"This idea that has been born, maybe out of the economy over the last couple of years, that you know, I really don't have to work. I don't really want to do this. I think I'd rather just sit around. This is a very sick idea for our country," he said.

Boehner must be as clueless as they come. Evidently he is blissfully unaware that there are more than two job seekers for every job available in this country. No, the unemployed aren't without jobs because they are lazy or receive government benefits. There are gigantic obstacles out there that prevent many from finding decent paying jobs. According to an article in thinkprogress.com...."the severity of the recession has created a long-term unemployment problem that has made many job seekers almost unemployable. Research shows that being unemployed for nine months has the same impact on your odds of getting hired as losing four years of experience from a resume. As a result, many people who lost their jobs have gone back to school, retired early, or continue to look for work without success."

John Boehner suffers from a condition that is commonly observed in Republicans - simplistic and shallow thinking.

And what is really sad about it is that they are willing to punish the elderly and the disabled in the belief that they are right.
