Romney on Working Moms

Etch A Sketch Romney fumbled again? Is he loosing the confidence of the common folk here in America? This is my take on what Romney said in the “Huffington Post” about poor Moms with toddlers being forced to join the work force in order to gain “dignity!” If they don’t do so they will lose government assistance.

What’s that you said??

Well, let me get this straight! According to Romney it is alright for a rich mother like his wife to chose to raise her own children. However, it is not right for a poor mom to choose the same because the poor mother needs to learn the “dignity” of how to work outside the home. This makes no sense to me at all and, it is wrong on so many levels.

My Questions

1. How can the government dictate to a mother the importance of whether to raise her own children or not?
2. Why is it alright for the rich Mom’s to choose to raise their own children and not the poor mom?
3. Nature alone tells us that the mother is the best person for the vocation of child rearing!
4. Why should a mom be forced to send her child to “child care” with all the risks if she can choose otherwise?
5. Why should the government supply money to the poor mom for child care when it cost less to help this poor mom until the children are of school age?
6. Since when has mother hood become the lesser of vocations?
7. If we follow the logical sequence on this subject, a person who is a child care provider at a day care center is choosing a vocation that according to Romney is of lesser significance.
8. How can any compassionate human being not realize the importance of children in our society?
9. If Romney is an old fashioned Christian with so called “family values” then how could he insist that the poor mother of a two year old be forced by the government to work outside the home?
10. How is the poor Mom expected to be able to “go out and find a job” when so many of our nations factory jobs have been outsourced?
11. Oh yes and one last thing! Romney has always talked about government being too big! Well, how big and non democratic is a government that forces mom’s with infants to work.
12. Right about now I am getting a sinking feeling that the republican party hates the poor and loves the rich. This is a bit of an eye opener for me!! I will not vote for either candidate!!! We need a third party!!

The Statistics on infants and toddlers needing motherly love

Statistics show that without the love of a mother a person is more likely to grow up with psychological problems!! Good going Romney!! Like we need more nut jobs in America!! We had better turn things around before it is too late. Our children are our most important resource!!

Conclusion

What is wrong with our society anyway when we take the most precious and most importance vocation of mother hood and throw it under the bus? No wonder so many young people in our day and age are depressed and chose suicide as a way out. When we devalue something as important as child rearing then we are indeed a nation that has no values whatsoever. Child rearing is the most important of all vocations. Think people! After all, a child can grow up to be a mass murderer or a compassionate, law abiding, productive, loving, fulfilled, and, intelligent adult. The choice is ours!

My dear Mark,
The general perception outside the USA is this guy suffers from foot in mouth disease. If he becomes the President God will have to save The USA.

I guess he wants more poor people working so they pay more taxes so the rich can pay less.

I had the privilege of being a stay at home mother and we didn't have a lot of money but we worked hard, we saved, we laughed, we played and we made wonderful memories. I enjoyed being a stay at home mother and wish more woman had that privilege. Dear Mr. Romney parenting when done right is a full time job and one of the greatest callings in the world.

My mother was a homemaker and looked after three children. My wife volunteer for charity work, part time, so that she could spend time with our son who was born after many years of our marriage. I am so thankful that it led to a happy marriage and parenthood.

Now I see many wealthy parents losing the plot in terms of parenthood under the pretext that they have no choice. Their concept of happiness is multiplying their wants. They little realize they cannot buy love and affection. It finally boils down to time with family! For many in Asia, they can afford "maids" who will be their constant companion in their last days. Children, of course, have no time for them pursuing their career, outdoing what their parents did! The men are in hot pursuit of their wives, few among them earn a lot. Any different view that we could do with less with one parent, the wife, taking a less stressful job or none at all and becoming a homemaker is dismissed outright as old- fashioned! Romney should see reason at the level that the majority find themselves in. Thanks Judy, for an impassioned post - siva

Judy, while I agree with the premise of your article, I just need to point out Romney is not a Christian and we do have a third party, the Independent Party, which needs many more members to make a difference. Good article.
