Taliban Education

While teens here in the USA try everything they can to get out of classes, there is a young girl in Pakistan who hungers for the education the Taliban is denying her.
A young girl thirsting for knowledge and a school to learn from is shot in the head on the bus from school in Pakistan.

Taliban Education

Malala, a beautiful name that sort of rolls off your tongue. A pretty 14 year old girl on her way home from school. A school bus invaded by thugs who want her dead. What she has done to inflame the hatred of these enforcers of the Taliban? She wanted to learn. Why is that such a difficult thing? To discover the reason, one needs to look at the priorities of the Taliban, a branch of Al Qaeda.

In Pakistan where she lived, girls are forced into marriage before puberty, school is forbidden and those males who follow the dictates of Sharia law find children like Malala to be monstrous threats to their manhood and seek to stamp them out. God forbid these young girls should become educated and fail to follow the ages old dictates that the man rules, no matter what.
Malala wanted the thing that outrages the Taliban more than having hair exposed and that is, she wanted to be educated. She was curious. She wanted to learn. She had the audacity to speak to CNN last year in an interview where she told the world that she has the right to be educated. To quote her: “I have the right to play. I have the right to sing. I have the right to talk. I have the right to go to market. I have the right to speak up. I shall raise my voice. If I didn’t, who would?”

The Taliban has taken away her rights by rendering her unable to speak with bullets to the head and neck and shooting two of her friends. They gloatingly claim: “Islam orders the killing of those who are spying for enemies. We targeted her because she would speak against the Taliban while sitting with the shameless strangers and idealized the biggest enemy of Islam, Barack Obama.”

Given another chance, the Taliban vowed they’d shoot Malala until she is dead. Fortunately, she is now somewhat out of danger in a hospital in England. Two people claiming to be relatives tried to get at her this week which heightened fears that the Taliban is still trying to get at her, but at least there is more security where she is now, and she is a bit harder to get at as she heals.

This attack on a young girl shows more than anything the nature of an outdated, outrageous group of religious zealots who have no concern for anything but their shamefully slanted beliefs.

I am telling you, this young lady is a hero, I could not be more proud of a human being than I am of Malala. What a inspiration she is. Thank you for sharing.:)

Imagine men boasting about shooting an unarmed 14 year old girl.
Very good article.

I had written on this horrendous crime few days ago. The sad fact is the silent majority allows the writ of Taliban to run. Now they react after the horses have bolted, so to speak. The Taliban tried their hand in Indonesia but the majority, who follow Islam, put them in their place - siva

So glad to hear Indonesia has the sense to hold their own. We haven't heard much about that.
