Shootings and killings happen every now and then involving teenagers. Even after the occurrences people are unable to say why such violent incidents happened? Just a few days back, the US newspapers reported a news about three teens shooting an Australian basketball player because these teenagers got bored and decided to kill someone.

Youth today is a mystery. Nobody knows what they do and why they do.
Who could predict or state the reason for why Adam Lanza opened fire on school children and staff at the elementary school, killing at least 27 people, including 20 children, last year.

Australian player killed by American teenagers

Xfinity reported the news from Oklahoma city, quoting an Associated press, “An Australian baseball player out for a jog in an Oklahoma neighborhood was shot and killed by three “bored” teenagers who decided to kill someone for fun.” Killing was a fun for those teens.

An Australian basketball player killed on the American soil

Australian basketball player Christopher Lane came to the US town of Duncan, where his girlfriend and her family live. He happened to pass a home where three teenagers were staying.

According to the police report, the three boys followed the 22-year-old Lane, a student from Melbourne attending college on a baseball scholarship, in a car and shot him in the back before driving off.

Police Chief Danny Ford said,”They saw Christopher go by, and one of them said: ‘There’s our target.’ The boy who has talked to us said, ‘We were bored and didn’t have anything to do, so we decided to kill somebody.’”

It was a random choice of the teenagers to kill someone. The killing has become a fun game for the modern teens. Where is our civilization? Is this civilized progress of the modern world?

Thought provoking, VP. Technologically we are making progress but in terms of becoming a civilized society, we are not. We have to find meaning for our existence or just exist like other species - live for the day! Rather than finding unity in diversity we are suspicious of own shadows - siva
