A young white male walks into a historically-black church in Charleston, South Carolina, prays for an hour and then opens fire, killing at least 9 people. Is this the plot of a poorly conceived Hollywood movie, or real-life? What it really is, is the story of racism in America that has been told over, and over again but just with different characters.

The Charleston Shooting and White Privilege in America

A young white male walks into a historically-black church in Charleston, South Carolina, prays for an hour and then opens fire, killing at least 9 people. Is this the plot of a poorly conceived Hollywood movie, or real-life? What it really is, is the story of racism in America that has been told over, and over again but just with different characters. But why is that not the story being told to the masses?

The recent events in Charleston are just the latest in a string of race-related tragedies in the United States. The use of deadly force against young black teens by the police raised awareness to the issue and sparked debate. However, the national conversation quickly shifted its focus away from the main underlying issue. People came flocking to the police's defense saying that "if you don't want to be shot by the cops, do what they say" or "he probably deserved it". Its said to see some many people disregard the humanity of a person just because of their skin color. I wonder if these people would feel the same way if it was one their family members or a friend that was killed- would they still "deserve it"?

In the case of the Charleston Shooting, a person walked into a church, a safe place of worship, and brutally killed 9 other human beings. There should be nationwide outrage! Instead, the story is covered as the shooter being "troubled" or "mentally ill". I have no knowledge of the state of the shooter's mental status, but I can assure you this. This person is a monster and domestic terrorist, and a racist.

Just try to understand this story: a person flees the scene of a mass murder, ends up in a different state, and is arrested by police receiving no bodily harm.

How did this story not involve some kind of shootout between the suspect and the police? Why was this suspect calmly taken out of his vehicle, put in handcuffs and placed in the back of a cop car and not roughed up similar to those black suspects above?

Because of White Privilege.

White privilege is assassinating 9 black people and being captured alive, b/c the cops didn't "fear for their lives". White privilege is being labeled as "quiet and soft spoken" after conducting viscous acts of violence against a group of people. White privilege is new channels scouring your Facebook page to find you had black friends to prove you are not a racist.

White privilege is disgusting.

I heard it was a False Flag, a faked thing for more gun control, and that the Huffington Post published a story days earlier about this happening.

Roof is not representative of Americans. He is a disturbed young man raised outside of the values Americans of any race hold dear. To think otherwise ignores the atrocities commited between the races since Angela Davis killed innocent New Jersey State Troopers in the 70s. The U.S. has legislated equal opportunity for all races and most of us live together amicably in our routine daily lives. Racism exists only in the minds of the mentally disturbed like Roof. Do not put the racist judgment on everybody else too because it just is not true.

Forgive typos.

although this is horrible, all those innocent people and the young white guy did the killing, if there are mental health issues then that has to be taken into consideration. Depression alone would not be a convincing defense
